Boots Pharmacy Supply Jobs supporting Meningitis Now

Meet Alysha, who works in the Pharmacy Services Team at our Nottingham Support Office. Alysha has been at Boots UK for six years in Supply Chain and now focuses on leading the Flu Vaccination Service.

Tell us about your career so far at Boots UK

I started working in the Pharmacy Supply Team in 2015, where my role focused on supporting with enquiries from stores such as stock queries or supply issues.
From here, I progressed in the team and became an Assistant Supply Managerwhere my responsibility was managing the supply of Pharmacy Services.

Next, I moved over to Retail Supply where I supported with launches of new No7 products. This was a great opportunity to work with the other side of the business I hadn’t experienced before.

After my time over in Retail I moved back to Pharmacy as a Commercial Lead in the services team. My role here consisted of leading on the customer proposition of the Childhood services; HPV, Meningitis B and Chickenpox. For the past year I have led on the Winter Flu Service which has been so rewarding.

Tell us more about your current role in Pharmacy Supply

I am currently working as part of the team that are planning for this year’s Winter Flu Service. This is an annual service which Boots offers to protect people from the risk of flu. My role includes leading a cross-functional team to set up the service ahead of launch. During the pandemicour customers and patients looked to Boots as the place for their health and wellbeing more than ever, so I was responsible for reviewing and transforming our Flu Service to a simple, accessible service that can help protect our nation and become the destination of choice for our customers.

What is a project that you are particularly proud to have been a part of?

When I was leading on the Meningitis B service, I had the opportunity to work with the charity Meningitis Now. To support with the awareness of the disease we created an impactful video which brought to life the potential after effects of what the Meningitis B could have. We also created pocket size cards that were available in all stores to support with identifying signs and symptoms of the Meningitis B.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

In my role I get to interact with so many areas across the organisation such as Marketing, Operations, IT, HR, Stores and Finance so I am constantly learning new things which support my career development.

We work together to provide a service to support our customers’ health and wellbeing. This is such a rewarding feeling and so different to product launches I’ve worked on before as here we could be potentially saving someone’s life.

The support network in my role over this unusual year has also been great. Throughout the pandemic we have been constantly supported with the flexibility of working from home, regular advice on mental health and lots of pick me ups to keep us all going through the challenges we’ve all faced.

Do you have any advice for somebody wanting to follow in a similar career path?

Being exposed to so many areas of the organisation can really support with your development! I have learned so much about the business in this role and it gives me chance to reflect on where I can progress to next.
