50 Year Club at Boots
We are celebrating are longest serving colleagues by launching a new and exclusive club for those who have spent the last 50 years or more helping people in their local communities to feel good.
20 colleagues from across the country are founding members of the Boots 50 Year Club. Ranging from pharmacy technicians, customer assistants and store managers, their careers with Boots have spanned six decades, and in this time, they have seen the business through an incredibly exciting period of change.
This is a very special moment for each of these 20 colleagues, and one that should be truly honoured
They have seen hundreds of new stores open, the launch of the new ‘wonder drug’ Ibuprofen, helped introduce now internationally renowned skincare products including No7 Protect and Perfect, supported the business to move into the digital age, and now are part of a global pharmacy-led health and wellbeing enterprise. They have also seen fashions change, from the white lipstick of the 1960s, the colourful powder cosmetics in the 1980s, through to the chunky festival glitter look in 2017.
To recognise their incredible service and launch the new club, the fabulous at 50 colleagues were invited to a special presentation held at the historic house of Jesse Boot in Nottingham, Lenton House, hosted by Elizabeth Fagan, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Boots.
Sue Cox is originally from Dover, and has been a Boots colleague for 50 years, spending the last 15 at Boots in Ilkeston. She joined the company on 24 July 1967 in the Dover Timothy White store as a Department Head before it merged with Boots in 1968. Over the years, she’s had many different roles at Boots, working as a dispenser, and is now a healthcare advisor, caring for the healthcare needs of her patients every day as she nears her 50th anniversary this July.
I think the best part for me, is when my customers know me by name – it makes me feel great, and in turn I enjoy helping my customers feel great
Sue, said: “They used to call me Miss Boots – the staff and customers. I think it’s because I’ve always been here! But I’ve never even thought about looking for another job – I love working for Boots and I’m enjoying working as a healthcare advisor in this lovely little store in Ilkeston. I think the best part for me, is when my customers know me by name – it makes me feel great, and in turn I enjoy helping my customers feel great – for me it isn’t a job really because I just love talking to people.”
Elizabeth Fagan, comments: “Celebrating 50 years of employment is an amazing achievement, and especially remaining loyal to one company throughout. Our colleagues are at the very heart of our business, and we know that our success is based on the care that each colleague demonstrates for each other and for their communities. This is a very special moment for each of these 20 colleagues, and one that should be truly honoured.”
The 50 Year Club celebratory events will be held annually, with new members being inducted when they reach their special 50thanniversary.
