This is a 40-hour per week, 6-month fixed-term contract (FTC) opportunity within the Dispensing Support Pharmacy (DSP) in Preston. While initially offered as a 6-month FTC, there is the possibility of an extension depending on business needs.
This is a non-patient-facing Pharmacist role supporting Boots stores across the UK. The DSP dispenses thousands of prescription items each day and plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive their medicines safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Working Pattern
40 hours per week
Shifts operated on a rota basis between 5:00am and 10:00pm
One Saturday per month required as part of the rota

Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional pharmacy support to Boots stores across the UK.
- Manage and respond to store queries in a timely and effective manner.
- Monitor and maintain service levels, proactively communicating with stores regarding any delays or operational issues.
- Ensure patient safety remains at the forefront of all decision-making and dispensing activities.
- Maintain accountability for the safe and accurate dispensing and checking of prescriptions.
- Ensure all governance processes, policies, and procedures are followed.
- Work in accordance with Clinical Governance requirements and General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards.
- Support compliance with Health & Safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver an efficient, high-quality dispensing service.
Typical Day
A typical day involves overseeing the safe and accurate dispensing of high volumes of prescriptions, supporting stores with operational and clinical queries, monitoring service performance, communicating updates to stakeholders, and ensuring all activities are completed in line with governance, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, contributing to the delivery of pharmacy services on a national scale while supporting Boots stores and helping to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
