About the role
We are seeking a visionary Senior IT Architect to spearhead strategic technology initiatives across our healthcare services—Pharmacy & Opticians This pivotal role will shape and drive architectural strategy across multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks. You will lead a high-performing team of architects and technologists, fostering innovation while maintaining operational excellence across delivery projects.
Key responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and evolve the technology architecture strategy across pharmacy, opticians, and hearing care domains.
Champion platform integration and interoperability, ensuring seamless patient and colleague experiences.
Collaborate with executive stakeholders to align IT strategy with business goals and regulatory requirements.
Architecture & Governance
Establish and enforce architecture principles, standards, and governance across all delivery projects.
Act as the primary liaison with Enterprise Architecture, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance.
Lead architectural reviews, risk assessments, and solution assurance processes.
Team Building & Leadership
Build and mentor a cross-functional architecture team, of solution and lead architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Promote architectural excellence through coaching, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.
Drive talent development and succession planning within the architecture function.
Delivery & Execution
Partner with programme and delivery teams to ensure architecture is embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee solution design for complex, multi-platform initiatives, balancing innovation with stability.
Ensure architectural decisions support security, data privacy, cost controls
What you'll need to have
Proven experience as a Lead Architect or Principal Architect in a regulated environment.
Strong grasp of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) and governance models.
Expertise in cloud platforms, integration technologies, and data architecture.
Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
It would be great if you also have
Experience with electronic health records (EHR), prescription systems, and clinical workflow tools.
Familiarity with NHS digital standards, GDPR, and clinical safety regulations.
Experience of multiple delivery frameworks, DevOps, and platform modernization.
