In celebration of Pride 2026, Holly shares that individuality at Boots means feeling safe and supported to be her authentic self at work. She highlights how inclusive opportunities, like participating in Pride activities, made her feel valued. Her identity has strengthened her confidence and relationships, allowing her to be open about who she is. Holly encourages others to take their time, assuring them that Boots offers a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone can belong and feel empowered.

What does individuality mean to you at Boots, and how have you been able to express your authentic self in your career?

Individuality at Boots means feeling comfortable bringing your whole self to work, knowing your experiences and perspectives are genuinely valued. Feeling comfortable to express who you are knowing your colleagues support the best version of you.

Can you share a moment during your time at Boots where you felt truly supported or celebrated for who you are?

A moment that really stood out was being encouraged to take part in this Pride blog and wider inclusion activity. It has allowed me the space to share what matters to me, in a way that felt comfortable and authentic. I feel like a lot of corporate businesses celebrate pride for profit, but I can truly see and feel that Boots celebrates these instances for its colleagues and communities.

How has your identity shaped your career journey or opportunities within Boots?

My identity has influenced how I approach my role, particularly in thinking about customers and colleagues in a more inclusive way. Boots pride itself on being diverse, inclusive and that has given me the confidence to be able to take part. I’ve had colleagues also within the LGBT+ community, so it has certainly strengthened my relationships and feel even more confident to be proud of who I am. I never fear to say that I am Gay around my colleagues.

What advice would you give to someone joining Boots who may not yet feel confident bringing their full self to work?

My advice would be to take it at your own pace. You don’t have to share everything straight away, what matters is feeling safe and supported to do so when you’re ready. Maybe you would feel more comfortable sharing in a BRG (Business Resource Group) or with a peer. But know that whatever you say will be supported.

How have you experienced a sense of community or belonging at Boots, and what makes that environment so important in the workplace?

We host a variety of celebrations from Pride, world culture day and we have several BRGS. There’s a real effort to create an environment where people feel included and valued, and that shows up in day-to-day interactions as well as wider initiatives.

What does empowerment look like for you in your career at Boots, and how has the company helped support that?

Empowerment for me means having the confidence and support to take ownership, share ideas and make an impact in my role. It’s about feeling trusted to contribute and knowing your voice is valued. I’ve always had support from my managers from CSC to Marketing. They always encourage me to participate whether it to be volunteering or taking part. This has given me the confidence to be more approachable at work and join BRGS.
