Catching up with Boots Optical Consultants Jas and Manisha

Have you ever wanted to know more about the role of our Optical Consultants? It’s a varied role that involves helping customers find the perfect products suited to them, ordering and dispensing glasses and contact lenses and supporting the whole team with the running of an Opticians Practice.

Here’s Jas and Manisha, to tell you a bit more about being an Optical Consultant at Boots Opticians…

Meet Jas

Hi, I’m Jas and I’m an Optical Consultant at Boots Opticians. I’ve worked at Boots for over two years now – Manisha and I started on the same day! Optics is something I fell into by chance after I started working as a Receptionist at an independent practice about six years ago.

What is the best thing about being an Optical Consultant?

The most rewarding part of my role is when I dispense someone’s new glasses or contact lenses, and on collection they say they can see better – especially when it is a child. It is so satisfying to know that I am making a difference to someone’s life. What I love about Optics is that it helps people to see better and, in some cases, can save their life.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love working at Boots as we can provide the whole package; Opticians, Hearingcare, Pharmacy, all under one roof, which is really convenient for our customers.

My role is very customer focused, I always put the customer at the heart of everything I do. I always ensure that I make them feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible, always listening to what they need help with and offering the best course of action to resolve their needs.

Boots Opticians have supported me with my current role by providing various forms of training at every stage of my career journey so far, and the support from my team members in store and managers is always great.

Why should somebody join Boots Opticians as an Optical Consultant?

I would recommend becoming an Optical Consultant at Boots Opticians to anyone who is a real people person and loves to help others. There are great opportunities to learn and grow within the business. In the future I want to become a Dispensing Optician and thanks to the opportunities at Boots and the support network around me, I know this is something I can work towards achieving.

Meet Manisha

I’m Manisha and I have worked at Boots for over two years, starting at the same time as my colleague Jas.

The most rewarding part of my job is helping people and giving our customers and patients the best possible experience. I find Optics an interesting subject and I used to work in retail, and although they are quite different, they are both focused on people and engagement.

Why Boots Opticians?

As an Optical Consultant, I get to speak to customers individually and really understand their needs and work together to resolve any concerns by offering a range of choices to help.

Boots have supported me with on the job learning, training courses and assisting senior team members and managers, which has helped me to improve my knowledge and skills even further.

I would recommend people to become an Optical Consultant with Boots Opticians as it offers a range of career opportunities. You will continue to grow within the role and every day you will learn something new. Thinking about my own career development, I would like to progress into management within Boots Opticians, and my manager is currently identifying suitable training opportunities for me, which I am very excited to learn more about and take my next step in the business.
