• Services delivered in store: Located within a busy shopping centre, Boots Opticians Welwyn Garden City serves a varied and diverse patient demographic, providing a mix of NHS and private optical services. The store continues to invest in its clinical offering, with both OCT and Optomap technology arriving soon, further enhancing the patient experience and clinical capabilities of the practice.
• Team structure: You will join a large, experienced team of around 20 colleagues who are passionate about delivering excellent patient care. The store has a supportive and collaborative culture, making it an ideal environment for both experienced Dispensing Opticians and those looking to continue developing their career within a well-established team.
This full-time role offers an excellent work-life balance, with alternate Saturday working and no Sunday requirement. Store opening hours are 9:00am–5:30pm, providing a consistent and predictable working pattern.
The store is conveniently located with discounted parking available nearby at approximately £2.50 per day and excellent public transport links. Welwyn Garden City train station is just a short walk away, with direct services to London taking around 20 minutes. As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
- Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
- Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
- Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
- Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
- Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.
- Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
- Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.
