About the role
We're seeking a visionary yet hands-on Transport Development Manager to lead the transformation of our delivery and logistics operations. This is a unique opportunity to influence the design and execution of a next-generation logistics ecosystem that is agile, cost-effective, and future-ready.
Key responsibilities
In this important role, you'll promote innovation and operational excellence across our logistics footprint. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Network Review & Modelling Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing delivery and the associated warehouse networks. Build detailed models that incorporate cost, service level, and scalability considerations. Develop robust business cases to support investment decisions and secure executive approval.
Service Innovation & Market Scanning Evaluate future contract requirements and assess potential delivery partners. Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and latest service models to ensure our network remains responsive to customer needs.
Technology Assessment & Integration Identify and assess new technologies—such as automated routing platforms, real-time tracking systems, and AI-driven forecasting tools—that could enhance our logistics capabilities. Lead pilot programs and support integration into existing systems.
End-to-End Logistics Insight Provide contract managers with a holistic understanding of the logistics lifecycle, from supplier to customer. Ensure they are equipped with external market intelligence and internal performance data to support effective negotiations and contract renewals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with teams across Operations, , Logistics, Procurement, Finance, and IT to align logistics strategies with broader business objectives. Facilitate workshops, lead project teams, and ensure stakeholder engagement throughout the change process.
Data Leadership & Business Reporting Oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of logistics data. Further develop dashboards and reporting tools that provide actionable insights to senior leadership and operational teams. Use data to monitor performance, identify trends, and inform strategic decisions.
What you'll need to have
Extensive experience in warehouse and delivery network reconfiguration, including the ability to assess current infrastructure, identify inefficiencies, and design scalable solutions
Advanced knowledge of route optimisation and planning technologies, with a track record of implementing tools that improve delivery accuracy, reduce mileage, and enhance customer satisfaction
A sharp eye for service improvement and cost reduction opportunities, backed by data-driven analysis and a pragmatic approach to change
The ability to translate complex logistics challenges into actionable strategies, with clear KPIs and measurable outcomes

Third-party logistics (3PL) contract management, overseeing large-scale operations and navigating complex stakeholder landscapes
Own-account delivery networks, with direct accountability for performance, compliance, and customer experience
