Top 5 Reasons to Become a Pre-registration Optometrist at Boots Opticians
Ololade is a Pre-registration Optometrist at Boots. We asked her for her top 5 reasons why she became a Pre-registration Optometrist with Boots, and here’s what she told us…
Every day is different
At Boots, we help a diverse mix of patients and you never know what each day is going to bring. From retinal detachments to dry eyes, every day is exciting and grants us the opportunity to help lots of people.
All of my supervisors here at Boots have been incredible in supporting my revision and helping me to grow into a more confident Optometrist. They are always available when I have questions and are very helpful in directing me to important resources.
Boots enables us to be part of the Johnson & Johnson STEP Programme which is full of helpful revision materials and workshops targeted at providing support at each stage of the Pre-registration assessments. At the end of the STEP Programme, there is also a mock OSCE so you get all the practice you need before the big day.
Learning Development Workshops
As a Boots Pre-reg Optometrist we have the benefit of being part of a network of other Pre-reg Optoms so we can help each other. Early in the year, we were split up into smaller groups with a main Learning Development Supervisor who would take us through the core competencies being assessed at each stage, helping us to be better prepared for our assessments. These were invaluable in helping us understand what assessors would be looking for.
Boots Academy Online
Boots has a large online collection of revision materials on a wide range of topics that you can use as and when you want to in order to increase your knowledge of Boots products needed for assessments and to give the best service of care to our patients and customers.
