We’re looking for experienced Independent Prescribers to join us in an exciting permanent hybrid role, bringing together digital healthcare and face-to-face clinical care. This opportunity is open to both Independent Prescribing Nurses and Independent Prescribing Pharmacists.
You’ll spend three days each week working remotely with Boots Online Doctor (BOD), delivering digital consultations and clinical care to patients, and two days in one of our selected Boots Healthcare Centres, providing face-to-face clinical services and using your Independent Prescribing qualification in practice.
It’s an opportunity to combine the flexibility and innovation of digital healthcare with the patient interaction and clinical impact of working in a Healthcare Centre, while helping us develop accessible, high-quality healthcare services across Boots.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, high-quality remote consultations, clinical assessments and reviews through Boots
- Online Doctor.
- Make evidence-based prescribing decisions within your professional scope of practice and in
- line with relevant clinical guidance and service protocols.
- Provide appropriate treatment, advice, safety-netting and onward referral, escalating where
- clinically appropriate.
- Deliver face-to-face clinical services within a Boots Healthcare Centre.
- Assess, treat and support patients using your Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Identify and respond appropriately to clinical risk and safeguarding concerns.
- Work collaboratively with Pharmacists, Nurses, Prescribers and wider multidisciplinary
- healthcare teams to deliver a seamless patient experience.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and high standards of patient safety, clinical governance and
- professional practice.
- Take part in clinical meetings, supervision, audit, training and service updates as required.
- Contribute to continuous service development, innovation and improvements to the patient
- experience.
- Support service requirements, including appropriate triage, patient or healthcare professional
- queries and prescription requests where required.
- Current NMC registration
- A recognised Independent Prescribing qualification (V300 for Nurses)
- A minimum 6 months post-qualification prescribing experience and confidence making autonomous clinical decisions.
- Strong clinical assessment, consultation and decision-making skills.
- A clear understanding of your professional scope of practice, limitations and when to escalate or refer.
- Experience of clinical risk assessment and safeguarding escalation.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence consulting with patients both remotely and face-to-face.
- A positive, proactive approach with a commitment to patient safety, service improvement and brilliant patient care.
- Confidence using digital tools and clinical systems.
- Flexibility to work every other weekend as part of your contracted hours.
- Experience within digital healthcare, online clinical services or remote patient care.
- Previous experience delivering video and telephone consultations.
- Experience using your Independent Prescribing qualification in a patient-facing setting.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Experience contributing to clinical audit, governance or the development of a new or evolving healthcare service.
