Hours: 22.5 hours per week across 3 days
Monday – Sunday, with Sunday working required. Ideal working pattern would be Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, however we are open to discussing alternative working patterns.

• Services delivered in store: This Centre of Excellence Boots Opticians store delivers exceptional patient care, supported by both Optomap and OCT technology. The store has 5 testing rooms with 25-minute testing times, providing an excellent environment to support both clinical and contact lens services.

• Team structure: You will join a close-knit and supportive team of 14 colleagues, including 3 Resident Optometrists, 2 Dispensing Opticians and a Student Dispensing Optician. The team is highly collaborative, committed to continuous learning and focused on delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Located in the heart of Brighton, this thriving Centre of Excellence store offers an exciting opportunity for a Contact Lens Optician to make a real impact within a flagship Boots Opticians location. Serving a diverse and varied patient demographic, the store provides excellent opportunities to build and develop a strong contact lens patient base while working alongside an experienced clinical team. The team regularly hosts CPD events and is passionate about supporting professional development and career progression. With the beautiful seafront just moments away, Brighton offers an outstanding lifestyle, combining a vibrant city atmosphere with independent shops, restaurants, culture and coastal living. The store is easily accessible by train, with discounted parking available nearby. Opening hours are 8am–8pm, with flexibility around shift patterns and working hours available to support the right candidate.
What you’ll be doing
As a qualified Contact Lens Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in store across our clinics and the wider store to support the day to day operations, reporting to the Store Manager/Hub Manager.

Key responsibilities
  • Using your passion for delivering patient care you'll work with colleagues to deliver a positive customer journey.
  •  Building longstanding relationships – not only with colleagues and customers but with healthcare professionals in the local community and explore the opportunities for delivering enhanced services 
  • Using your up to date knowledge of Contact Lens technology and spectacle dispensing to train and develop the wider optical team. 
  • Validating complex prescriptions and vulnerable groups and providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements. 
  • Opportunity to supervise a Student Contact Lens Optician/Student Dispensing Optician

Optometrists at Boots are required to have obtained a BSc (hons) degree in optometry, be registered with the GOC, have completed a one year pre-registration work placement, passed the OSCE exams and be registered with relevant NHS body.
A Dispensing Optician at Boots is responsible for dispensing and fitting spectacles and other optical aids, working from prescriptions provided by optometrists and ophthalmologists. They also support customers by helping them choose suitable frames, lenses, and other eye-wear solutions, ensuring they achieve the Best Vision Possible.
Yes, we have a variety of shift options available within our practices.
To become a qualified Optician, you would need to complete an integrated Masters degree which must include 48 weeks of patient-facing experience to meet the General Optical Council training requirements. (This is a four years course in England & Wales and five years in Scotland). The College provides 44 weeks of the required clinical placement experience for student optometrists, as part of most universities' Masters in Optometry
