• Team structure: You’ll join a close-knit and supportive team in our Brentgovel practice, working alongside experienced colleagues and an established Contact Lens Optician. With a strong focus on patient care and building relationships within the local community, this is a great environment to develop your clinical and dispensing skills.
• Working across the Twin Town: This role offers the opportunity to work across both our Brentgovel and Cornhill practices, giving you variety while remaining part of the wider Bury St Edmunds team. You’ll have exposure to different patients, colleagues and store environments, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to broaden their experience.
• Development opportunities: There is an opportunity to develop your career further through the CLO qualification, with support from the existing team and an experienced CLO. This makes the role particularly attractive for a DO looking to take the next step professionally.
Based in the heart of historic Bury St Edmunds, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a community-focused team in one of Suffolk’s most desirable market towns. The practices offer a varied patient base and the opportunity to build genuine, long-term patient relationships.
The role provides a varied 7-day working pattern, with alternate Saturday and Sunday working required, while still offering flexibility around the remainder of the working week. The practices are conveniently located close to the town centre, with shops, cafés and amenities nearby and the train station within walking distance.

As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
- Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
- Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
- Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
- Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
- Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.
- Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
- Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.
