Assistant Supply Manager in Pharmacy
After four weeks of being in the Boots UK Support Office, I have now fully settled into a new environment and new city!
Supply Chain Graduate Programme – Frances’ Story

We have just returned after Christmas from our in-store placements which everyone on the graduate programme does before they start their business roles, and I think the benefits of this are unlimited as it enables us as graduates to build a strong direct link between stores and the Support Office.

My first placement in the Support Office is as an Assistant Supply Manager in the Pharmacy team.  I have various projects to lead, and my line manager provides a great platform of support in our weekly one to ones.  I really enjoy the opportunity to work in a large team but also to work independently and manage my own workload and timings.  The bond I have formed in store with colleagues is helping me in one of my projects as I am working with them to reduce the levels of stock they hold in their pharmacy and provide a ‘Top Tips’ guide for other stores to use.  I love feeling like I am really making a difference with the work I do on a daily basis.

As part of my development on the Supply Chain graduate scheme, I have also been out and about in the Nottingham site visiting key areas such as the Care Services Support Pharmacy where medicines are pre-packed to help store processes.  I have also visited the Stores Service Centre and the Burton warehouse which are vital to the success of Supply Chain and Logistics at Boots UK.  The picture above is me spending time in the Customer Support Centre where all the calls are handled which was really interesting to see what kind of customer care calls come in!

On the Talent Programme, there are so many opportunities such as getting involved in the Boots Benevolent Fund charity and this week, all the Support Office graduates are meeting with the retail graduates who are based in store so we can maintain our cohort network.  We also have a two day self-experiential residential coming up to focus on our development.

The Support Office has a great atmosphere and there are always events and something happening around the business to get involved in.  I love being at the centre of assisting stores and creating a great business for our customers together.
