Pharmacy Advisor
I have worked at Boots UK, and have been based in this Nottingham store for 10 years now and I have loved every minute.
So much to love about my new role as a Pharmacy Advisor

I started in the photo labs, before moving on to be a Healthcare Advisor. After two years in that role I applied to be a Relief Dispenser and got the role here in Nottingham Victoria Centre! Throughout my 10 years, Boots UK has continued to support me in getting the qualifications I needed.

There is so much to love about my new role as a Pharmacy Advisor; for example, I always feel like I’m giving something back to the community. If I can help people on a day to day basis and they leave with a good feeling – it makes the job feel really worthwhile.

I come across such a wide variety of patients. Some people are really sick, some are upset, and some just want you to listen to them. This job is not about selling – it’s about listening, caring and advising. Every day I don’t know who I’m going to meet – I talk to people who suffer from colds and flu, to depression or cancer. I really don’t know what my next patient will be coming to me with.

This is the same when I’m in the dispensary – I can be working with products that I’ve not come across before. I can honestly say – I will never become bored in the job – it’s brilliant.

Working on both the counter and in the dispensary gives my day a real balance. I love my medicine based knowledge that constantly develops in the dispensary and the complex prescriptions that I sometimes put together. This in addition to customer interaction at the counter,  makes the role incredibly interesting.

Boots UK has really supported my development throughout my career and I’ve gained some great qualifications. The possibilities to develop are endless – I could go on to train to be a Pharmacy Technician or Accuracy Checking Technician in the future. Also I must add, as well as having a great role, I work with a brilliant team of people who really support each other. What more can I say?
