Reward in HR has a lot of layers to it, for example, we look after all things to do with colleagues pay, recognition schemes that ensure our colleagues can be given a thank you for the work that they do and employee benefits. We manage these for all business areas including our stores that you see on the high street, our optician practices, the logistics part of the business that make sure your online order gets to your front door and also the Support Office in Nottingham.

 

In February 2016 we launched our first flexible benefits website; our colleagues were given access to this and they were able to select the benefits that mean the most to them. This was an exciting time across Boots HR department as we had made the step to making our offer more personalised for the people that do such a great job for us.

Our biggest aim was to make sure that whatever we offered to our colleagues was simple, accessible and family friendly. We wanted the benefits website to sparkle throughout the year so we had some benefits which could only be opted into and applied once a year, while making sure others were available for our colleagues all year round.

As a company we know we have a lot of people working with us, and everyone will have different needs and wants. To try and make sure we reach out to as many people as possible, regardless of their demographic, we decided to categorise our benefits. We realise that future considerations, health and wellbeing, and home and lifestyle play a big part in everyday life.

 

To help and support, we made available:

– Life assurance and critical illness for those that want to invest in their future

– Cycle to work, health screening and dental insurance to make sure you feel good not for today but also for the future

– Childcare vouchers, holiday buying and travel to work plans to make sure you’re looked after inside and outside of work

I love my extra holiday flexibility! With a busy year of wedding planning and house moving, I’m glad to have the extra time and support from work.

Since I’ve become a grandmother, I think more and more about the future of my family and to have the life assurance scheme just helps me feel like I can protect my family the best way that I can.

Along with these benefits, we also have a discount site which is really popular with our colleagues. The MyOffers discount site partners with loads of different companies like theme parks and high street retailers so we can make sure you can have a cheap trip to the cinema or 20% off your mobile phone contract. We all know how hard it is to save the pennies so every bargain helps!

To make sure you have everything you need in one place, we also have links to the works pension scheme, optician’s discount, hearing care, travel insurance and the benevolent fund which is a charity founded by Boots all on the same site.
