Boots Opticians Celebrates its First Year of Care for the Sutton Coldfield Community
We recently marked the first anniversary of caring for the people of Sutton Coldfield. Inviting customers and patients to a special event in store, to celebrate what has been a fantastic first year for our practice.
Boots Opticians Mere Green practice first opened its doors on 24th November 2016, and over the last year has truly become part of the local community. Through our provision of outstanding services and offering of health and wellbeing advice, our practice is helping families to feel in control of their eye care and hearing needs. At the celebratory event, customers and patients were invited to chat with Boots Opticians and Hearing care colleagues, who were on hand to further encourage healthcare conversations and ask how they could make the next year even better!
Practice Manager Manjit Talwar said: “We’d like to thank all of our customers and patients for their support and much valued feedback. We have had an exciting first year, and we look forward to providing excellent service and great care for the people of Sutton Coldfield for many years to come.”
Over the last month, our team ran a charity raffle in aid of BBC Children in Need, and the lucky winners were announced at the celebratory event; prizes included a luxury hamper set, tower of treats, vouchers, a bottle of champagne and a cuddly toy. Thanks to the generosity of the Sutton Coldfield community and valiant ticket sales efforts of the practice colleagues, over £1,000 was raised for BBC Children in Need, with all of the proceeds helping support disadvantaged children across the UK.
Caring for the health and wellbeing of children is a cause close to the hearts of our Boots Opticians Mere Green team where we have also been out in the local community. Over the last year, colleagues Sonia Talwar and Lorraine Edwards, visited Moor Hall Primary School, Mere Green Primary School and Little Sutton Primary School to help educate children on ‘the importance of eye health.’ The visits were a big hit and Mere Green Primary School took a trip to the practice to learn more about eye health and see how the testing equipment works. The practice team were delighted to host the inquisitive visitors, and look forward to supporting many more local initiatives in the years to come.
The Boot Opticians Mere Green practice team includes: Resident Optometrist Sonia Talwar, Hearing Care Audiologist Kevin Gooch, Senior Optical Consultant Lorraine Edwards, Assistant Practice Manager Dan Bird and Optical Consultants Jonathan Vardy and Ewelina Kocik. Boots Opticians Mere Green were finalists in the annual nationwide “Boots Shine Awards” under the “New Practice of the Year 2017” category.
