About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior role in our HR Business Partnering Team within our Nottingham Support Office.

We are looking for a Head of HR/Senior HR Business Partner to act as a Trusted advisor, strategic HR partner and coach to an Exec member and their leadership team, to build & drive a long term & sustainable People Strategy & plan aligned to the function’s collective strategic objectives.
This role has oversight for all People Activities for the function ensuring optimal delivery through our HR Centres of Expertise to drive real value to the business. They are critical in developing and executing strategies focussing on things like talent development & organisational effectiveness in order to deliver business results & are required to implement & embed centrally led activities which support individual, team & functional performance & engagement.
This role would suit an experienced Head of HR or Senior HR Business Partner ideally from but not limited to, a retail background with strong stakeholder management who is looking to make an impact straight away. This is a big role in terms of impact, partnering with the Executive leader of a large function.
You will report into the Director of HR, Business Partnering & will lead a small team of HR Business partners aligned to respective leaders within the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnering the Executive member & their Leadership team.
- Accountable for shaping, steering, leading for and delivering the overall short, mid to long term people strategy for the function in conjunction with functional leaders and respective HRBPS
- A core member of the functional leadership team working with them to shape the business and change agenda. Giving input and counsel that goes beyond people activities.
- Working in partnership to drive and support transformational change, accountable for people related change initiatives (including technology/automation and other programmes of change) within the function
- Focus on activities that need to be driven across the function in a joined up way (eg Senior Talent management & Leadership development, strategic workforce planning, longer term capability building, Org Design..) whilst ensuring that the HRBPS are running people activities effectively in their functions
- Coaching and mentoring senior leaders on a variety of key people strategies including; organisational design and development, Talent Management & Acquisition and Capability.
- Coaching the leadership teams to create the optimum environment for their teams to thrive
- Leadership and development of a small team of HR Partners, each of whom partner specific leaders and business areas, with aligned people plans
- Effective collaboration with HR colleagues across the broader organisation to contribute to the overall people agenda
- Balances best practice with commercial considerations to support in landing the plan and agenda & delivery of HR service which is line with legal and company policy requirements and in the context of the Company values
- Uses People MI to understand hotspots, trends and key focus areas to drive business performance
It would be great if you have
- Significant experience of Senior HR Partnering with senior stakeholders within a complex commercial and / or retail environment and experience of operating within an HR Centres of Expertise model.
- Exceptional at building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Challenge up to executive management level – hold the leaders to account for effective leadership of their people.
- Business acumen to translate commercial business strategy into practical HR initiatives – agile, quick thinking and articulate
- Strong moral courage to lead through ambiguity
- Can think and translate strategy into tangible actions and has the energy and enthusiasm to make them happen
- Strong change leadership experience – influences senior teams to drive through effective organisation change strategies in a variety of scenarios
- Experience of leading and implementing strategic people practices mid to long term such as workforce planning, resourcing, reward, engagement as well as giving direction on complex ER issues
- Lead motivate, coach, support, challenge and develop others to be at their best
- Experience of Leading and driving delivery of programmes and projects
- Experience of facilitation and coaching of management at all levels
