About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Walgreens Boots Alliance Group Tax team as a Tax Compliance and Reporting Manager. We are looking for someone with experience providing strategic UK tax support along with tax reporting and compliance for a multinational group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quarterly current and deferred tax reporting for an allocation of UK and International companies under US GAAP (please note that existing US GAAP specific tax reporting experience, whilst desirable, is not necessary to be considered for this role)
- Analysis of quarterly tax reporting using data analytics tools
- Assist with CbCR and Pillar 2 reporting and compliance processes, including modelling and analysis of forecasted data
- Review and preparation of tax notes for IFRS statutory accounts
- Preparation of corporation tax computations and returns for an allocated portfolio of UK companies and Channel Islands branches, in line with internal and external statutory deadlines - including examination of underlying financial data and discussions with business / finance owners
- Assist with calculations of quarterly corporation tax payments and other tax payments
- Review of claims and elections for all UK companies in the Group, ensuring that adequate records are maintained and that all claims and elections required to be made are submitted to HMRC
- Assist with HMRC correspondence, including technical research and liaising with business/finance owners
- Assist with various other direct tax compliance and advisory matters relevant to a large corporate group, including SAO filings, CbCR, CFC reviews, SDLT, group and consortium relief claims, R&D tax relief, patent box etc.
- Identify and implement direct tax process improvements through use of technology with the aim of a seamless flow of data across underlying management accounting systems, tax reporting systems and tax compliance systems
- Take responsibility for keeping up-to-date with technical developments and legislation changes (with opportunities to make presentations to other team members/departments on particular topics)
- Work with all members of the Group Tax function to ensure the aims and objectives of the department are met
What you’ll need to have
- Qualified accountant or tax advisor with experience in a tax department of a multinational company or in one of the top 4 accounting firms
- Demonstrable hands-on corporation tax compliance and reporting experience, including preparation of corporation tax computations and returns
- Experience with a top 4 or mid-tier accounting firm in the tax department or tax experience in a corporate group
- Experience with tax accounting and/or accounts preparation work for a company, including deferred tax accounting
- Ability to explain complex tax technical points in a clear and concise way to non-tax professionals
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Willingness and ability to develop proficiency in other software and tax technology solutions
It would be great if you also have
- Awareness and understanding of Pillar 2 and CbCR safe-harbours
- US GAAP tax accounting experience
- Experience with Onesource tax compliance software
- Power BI experience
- Experience with Longview or Corptax tax accounting software
