This large health and beauty store is in the heart of Ely, with an easily accessible train line around a 10 minute walk from the store, also on site parking in designated spaces. It offers a beautiful cathedral where you can sit in the grounds on a nice day, a regular market, a lovely river and some delicious food from local independent cafe's. It is also attached to Costa!
The store itself currently has 23 colleagues including the manager, it has two Accuracy checking technicians, two registered technicians, five very competent dispensers (four are fulltime) an assistant manager, an established retail team and a No7 advisor.
The pharmacy is very well organised and runs smoothly, the team know and understand their targets and the expectations set by the manager. It is a DSP store and also a care home store where it currently dispenses 10 care homes, all with various different floors in each of them. It averagely does over 3000 items a week and can reach up to around 3600 on a busier week. There are only two other pharmacies in the area, a local independent and Tesco pharmacy, due to a Lloyd's closure the workload has increased considerably over the last 18 months.
It offers a range of pharmacy services that include, Needle Exchange, Methadone/Buprenorphine patients, Contraception service, Pharmacy First, Free Emergency contraception (if PGD signed) Hypertension and ABPM, Hepatitis B, Pneumonia and in the flu months it becomes a hub where there is double pharmacist cover two days a week for back to back appointments.

As a Pharmacist with us you’ll be providing excellent customer and patient care, it’s more than dispensing medicine, it’s listening and providing your expert advice and reassurance. Your main areas of responsibility will be:
- Delivering the pharmacy strategy through providing expert care and advice
- Accountable for legal and ethical decisions in the pharmacy
- Building the pharmacy capability of store teams
- Conducting continual review through audit, observations and risk assessment to ensure customer and patient safety is paramount
- Delivering a range of professional pharmacy services
What you’ll need to have
To be successful in this role you will have a professional, caring character and a true desire to help us change for the better. In addition you will:
- Be registered with relevant pharmacy regulator (GPhC, PSNI, PSI)
- Demonstrate high levels of professional expertise and be widely respected by stakeholders, peers, patients, customers and external local professionals
- Have a passion for community pharmacy and providing the best care for our customers.
- Be collaborative with a team-centered approach
- Have excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations and provisions of national and local services
- Be a great communicator; able to put people at ease and effectively meet the varied needs of our customers and patients
