We are looking for a resident optometrist within our hub store in Edinburgh. This store is part of a collection of 6 stores that all pull towards the same goal and support each other. Situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh this store is a destination location for patients from Edinburgh, Fife and the Scottish Borders. Being an established practice we are always looking at ways to enhance the services we offer our patient base. The role is currently for maternity cover however there will definitely still be a role available once the maternity leave ends, it may just have some more mobility built into it. It's important we strike that work life balance for you. With flexibility surrounding working pattern, we are able to offer full time, part time, weekend rotations and flexibility to work longer days. Although full time is available within the store we can also discuss the option of mobile days in the interview. Regardless though you will have rotas 12 weeks in advance and know where you are so you can plan your life outside of work appropriately. We are looking for a colleague that is keen to grow the business, has patient care at the forefront of all decisions.

About the opportunity

You will be a key part of a team that is passionate about delivering unforgettable customer care, all while having the support, resources, and progression opportunities that come with the biggest brand in healthcare.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Leading clinics and providing specialist care and advice to all patients
  • Testing eyes using the latest technology whilst maintaining outstanding patient care.
  • Delivering enhanced services dependant on the store needs
  • Responding to emergency triages
  • Working with external healthcare professionals
  • Providing clinical support to team members on the shop floor
  • Providing advice to patients using your clinical knowledge
  • Keeping up to date with latest clinical practices.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders

What you’ll need to have

The essential skills or experience needed to succeed in this role:
  • GOC registered (or expecting to be in the next 6 months)
  • Additional registration with the relevant NHS body
  • Drive to deliver excellent patient care.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • The motivation to ‘See What’s Possible’ for our teams, customers, and patients.
