About the role:
An exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast growing beauty business – No7 Beauty Company – and to ensure its products and services are provided with safety and tolerance at their heart.
As a Safety Specialist, you will use your expertise to assesses the safety of products during Innovation and New Product Development (NPD) and throughout their lifecycle. You’ll maintain the safety frameworks that efficiently support both in-house and supplier development routes, and undertake additional assessments where novel ingredients, products or safety signals require, with recommendations to the business. You will use your experience to continuously translate scientific insights into consumer relevant product improvements.
Reporting into the Senior Safety Manager, you will work across a wide group of stakeholders including Research & Development, Formulation, Brand, Claims, Regulatory, Quality, Global Sourcing and Legal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safety assessment during Innovation and NPD, ensuring that products on the markets are safe though their lifecycle
• Support the Cosmetovigilance program
• Contribute to the on-going Safety Quality Management System
• Build scientific expertise in safety fields and technologies. Use this expertise to drive continuous improvement of the products and protect the brands and business
• Drive competitive advantage through the application of safety expertise in our products
• Raise awareness across the technical and commercial teams of the importance of safety for customer protection
What you’ll need to have:
• Qualifications and experience that meet the regulatory requirements for a Safety Assessor:
• Qualifications: a diploma or other formal qualifications awarded on completion of a university course of theoretical and practical study in pharmacy, toxicology, medicine or a similar discipline.
• Experience: Experience of safety assessment in FMCG, the chemistry industry, with cosmetics experience being an advantage.
• Be able to manage, influence stakeholders, think strategically, whilst at the same time managing the daily business at pace
It would be great if you also have:
• Professional qualifications - DABT (Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT), UKRT (UK register of Toxicologists).
• A chemistry background and experience of the OECD QSAR Toolbox
