About the role

We are looking for a talented Software Development Manager to lead our development team working on our healthcare platform. This is ideally suited to a highly motivated engineer with experience in managing a team of developers. You’ll be joining us at an incredibly exciting time, as we build out our UK engineering team, working on UK projects, in collaboration with our Boots colleagues.

Other key responsibilities include:

• Lead the software development team in the development and delivery of performant and scalable software solutions
• Implementation of best practices and a process of continual improvement
• Manage the full software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, deployment and maintenance
• Scheduling and monitoring of work for the features and BAU development squads
• Ensure that software solutions are delivered on time and budget
• Work with the wider engineering team to ensure successful delivery of software solutions
• Be the primary link between the software development team, business and product managers
• Provide regular 1 to 1s with the development team members, setting of objectives, personal development plans and annual performance reviews
• Engage in the hiring process across the engineering team
• Regular reporting of team performance, cadence and issues
• Liaise with both internal and external parties
• Scheduling of support and out of hours cover

What you’ll need to have

To be successful in this role you will need;

• 5+ years experience within an enterprise development environment
• Proven track record of successful software engineering leadership
• Excellent understanding of the processes and best practices in the software development, release and maintenance cycle
• Ability to manage own deadlines and escalate issues in a timely manner
• Ability to communicate at both technical and non-technical levels
• Excellent organisational skills
• Team player who wants to make a difference
• Demonstrate WIT (Whatever It Takes) attitude

It would be great if you also have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
• Experience working in the healthcare industry
