CRITICAL PURPOSE OF ROLE

Lead the programme/project management and delivery role of a portfolio of business initiatives, for example:

  • New store openings
  • Extensions, refits and interventions
  • Acquisitions
  • Capital replacement
  • Chiller roll out
  • Multiple site roll outs
  • Trial stores
  • Offices
  • Support Engineering / IS&T and Store Maintenance with ‘hands on support and advice’ to resolve issues
  • Ad hoc/Other Ireland Growth Activity

Effectively leading the project team through the programme-life cycle and achieving agreed pre-defined critical success factors – with total end to end accountability

Responsible for leading the continued development and implementation of new project and programme processes and external resources

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

BRIEF DEFINITION
  • Work with the client to develop and define the programme/project brief and scope
  • Lead feasibility activity – process dependent on project type – in terms of deliverables and cost
  • Provide input/challenge to programme business case
  • Agree roles and responsibilities of the client and stakeholders
  • Determine critical path with the client/stakeholders
  • Understand the bench marking appropriate to programme type – and monitor against – e.g. £s/sq.m.
  • Attend client/project governance meetings pre-brief
  • Support the Property agenda in Ireland

PROGRAMME SET UP
  • Propose and agree appropriate supply chain and delivery model with Senior Management
  • Agree roles of delivery team – ensuring timely appointment particularly of Principal Designer and Contractor
  • Define deliverable key milestone programme dates and ensure adherence by stakeholders and project team
  • Confirm project delivery KPIs
  • Accountability for programming/Air Traffic Control
  • Accountability for providing materials/shopfitting forecasting to supply managers
  • Agreement with Field Operations for the most effective delivery model
  • Manage and control workload peaks and troughs, to aid successful delivery

PROJECT DELIVERY
  • Deliver programme to agreed timelines – managing to detailed milestone maps
  • Deliver programme to approved budget
  • Ensure cost effect and documented change control
  • Deliver to the agreed quality – ensuring completion of snagging in a timely fashion
  • Attend client/project governance/update meetings
  • Ensure quality delivery through whatever resources are deemed appropriate
  • Ensure supply managers aware of materials/fittings requirements
  • Site visits to be as required to confirm brief requirements; audit quality of planning; audit delivery
  • Able to engage, motivate and lead teams to high delivery standards
  • Ensures statutory compliance in planning and implementation for NI stores
  • Deliver compliant schemes with the understanding of ROI building control and Irish fire regulations

LEADING THE TEAM
  • Based centrally – ensuring accessibility – typically 3 days/wk
  • Develop external supply chain and stay abreast of current developments
  • Engages with key stakeholders and ongoing stakeholder management
  • Takes time to build effective relationships and develop strategic partnerships
  • Adopt new ways of working/technology to ensure cost effective in time/travel for internal and external resources

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects to time, cost and quality
  • Technical understanding relating to programme delivery in the contracting/construction environment
  • Health and Safety knowledge of legislation relating to construction projects
  • Technical project/programme management capability
  • Commercial, financial and operational awareness


EXPECTATIONS IN SUPPORT OF DELIVERY
Project Tracking - Robust and visible, against published milestone dates, with regular reporting

Project Requirements - Adherence to all project requirements, ensuring compliance with corporate governance (timely appointment of Principal Designers/Contractors; provision of POs; Cost Plan 2 approvals)

Quality Delivery – including proactive management, reporting of snagging, project closures to agreed scope and brief with no snags, completion learning reviews and clear end to end accountability

Approval Meetings - Attendance at IPWG and Intervention/Phoenix meetings to present scheme and costs, providing information and options for decision making

Management and Development of supply chain – Architects/Job Runners, Project Managers and Contractors – building relationships, setting high expectations and holding to account for quality planning and delivery

Resource agreement at outset with Senior Management and prioritisation linked to Ireland/Property Governance
