The Boots Cloud Centre of Excellence team is seeking an experienced Cloud DevOps Lead to join our growing International IT and Advanced Analytics (IT2A) function. This role has the flexibility to work from either our London, Weybridge or Nottingham offices on a flexible office/home hybrid approach.

About the role:
As our new will Cloud DevOps Lead you will engineer and enable enterprise Cloud DevOps/Platforms enabling teams to increase productivity and reduce time to deliver solutions. You will design and implement code, infrastructure, source control, security, compliance, continuous integration, testing, delivery, monitoring, and feedback to improve DevOps capabilities. They will assist development teams in adopting DevOps practices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement development collaboration, code, infrastructure, source control, security, compliance, continuous integration, testing, delivery, monitoring, and feedback.
  • Assist development teams in adopting DevOps practices
  • Influences and drives the cloud strategy along with the introduction of new emerging technologies and public cloud PaaS and IaaS services, cloud adoption plans, and cloud application design.
  • Influences target state Cloud Architecture, partnering with other areas, such as Cloud Network Architects, Cloud Data Architects, Cloud Solution Architects, Cloud Security Architects, and Cloud Engineering and Development teams.
  • Builds reusable documentation to accelerate the adoption of cloud solutions across business units.
  • Ensures cloud deployments result in resilient, robust, and compliant systems. May oversee technology assessments, technology strategy reviews, and provide internal consulting to ensure all areas are practicing sound architecture hygiene.
  • Translates complex ideas, technology, and programs into language senior management can relate to and performs as a key influencer on technical decisions that affect the business on a long-term basis.
  • Participates in the development of metrics and scorecards to influence the technology teams on industry best practices for DevOps.

What you’ll need to have:
  • Experience leading a highly technical team in a matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of cloud native patterns for development, etc.
  • Experience leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
  • Experience identifying and partnering to implement automation opportunities to drive down toil and reduce technical debt
  • Experience managing operations of large-scale internet-centric Data environments for application or data services serving tens to millions of end users
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience applying standards of cloud compliance to application design to achieve reliability
  • Knowledge of networking and cloud technologies, for example Security, Load Balancing, network routing protocols

It would be great if you also had:
  • 5 years of leading DevOps function or 3 years as a DevOps engineer
