Working Capital Manager

As the Working Capital Manager you will lead the working capital agenda for the Boots UK trading team and be instrumental to achieving our working capital agenda.

This is not a traditional Finance role as whilst you’ll lean on your Finance knowledge and expertise, you will immerse yourself across the business to understand our processes and identify opportunities to deliver working capital benefits.

About the opportunity

This is a brand new role joining our General Merchandise business unit, sitting in our Supplier Strategy team. You’ll work closely with our Trading, Finance, Supply and Data Science functions to deliver key initiatives.

• You will be responsible to ensure our trading team deliver on their working capital initiatives and targets, establishing and reviewing key performance indicators to track this
• Identifying new opportunities to improve working capital and driving continuous improvement in current processes
• The role will not have direct line management responsibility but will include leading, coaching and developing the wider Boots UK trading team on their knowledge of working capital and ensuring this is embedded in all supplier negotiations
• Lead project teams to execute process changes and implement new initiatives

About you

• Strong knowledge of Finance and financial processes, part qualified or qualified would be desirable but not essential
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to demonstrate foresight – know what is happening in the market, how will it impact our negotiations with suppliers and what do we do to adapt to it
• Excellent project management, facilitation and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with experience and knowledge in manipulating data in excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence in presenting to Executives
• An ability to think outside of the box, and thrive on new challenges
• Experience of managing working capital as an external consultant or within a business would be advantageous
