About the opportunity

We are looking for a Design Operations Manager to join our growing UX team at Boots UK. As part of the Digital Transformation team, the UX function drives a strong culture of learning and evangelising user-centred design culture that sits at the core of everything we do.

Part of this role will be to lead design operation activities in the UX team, working alongside UX designers and other design stakeholders to help deliver a consistent user experience for customers and help keep the team running efficiently.

About the role:

• Support a distributed experience design team, working with colleagues and clients across Boots
• Manage the design system (including Digital Design Library/Digital System Manager) and corresponding roadmap
• Build a process that would optimise designers’ day-to-day workflow—maximize engagement and reduce duplicated efforts
• Identify the critical gaps and weaknesses of an existing design process
• Assess design team skills and tools, create a plan for achieving high standards in design
• Unify design language across platforms to achieve consistency
• Own stakeholder communication to increase visibility and shout about our successes
• Lead the education, implementation, and evolution of Boots digital brand guidelines

About you:

• A good amount of experience in maintaining design systems and pattern libraries
• Enable designers embedded in product squads or project teams to stay aligned with the wider design organisation
• You will work with design leadership and HR to support a strong design culture, and develop robust hiring, onboarding and development practices
• You can provide hands-on design support where necessary supporting in the production of production-ready designs
• Build relationships across the organisation to help colleagues to get the most out of the design practice
• Be experience in transitioning design teams to the latest tools including Figma, Mural and Invision
