Assistant UX Manager (UX Developer)

This UX developer role sits within our Optimisation Team, where we focus on using data-driven methods, innovative ways of thinking and AB testing to deliver better experiences for our customers and drive business growth.

About the opportunity
As a UX developer, you’ll build quick-to-market AB tests and experiment solutions that drive innovation on You’ll create beautiful experiences for our customers that rethink how a website should look, feel and act, and which have creativity at their core. What’s more, you’ll do this as part of a team. Applying your knowledge and expertise to help analysts, researchers and optimisation specialists transform customer insights and trends into live, on-site experiments. Together, this team will be responsible for generating significant value for both Boots and customer.

• Taking customer insights, performance data and business objectives and transforming them (with the support of the wider optimisation team) into creative test ideas, concepts and designs
• Take a high volume of test designs and concepts and develop them within Adobe Target, ready to be published live on site
• Apply your knowledge and creativity to generate innovative solutions to customer and business problems
• Develop processes and ways of working, adhering to best practice where possible to minimise defects in production
• Act as technical point of contact for the wider UX teams, offering guidance on how ideas can be translated into quick-to-market experimentation solutions
• Work with third-party suppliers in the onboarding and testing of their platforms on, acting as technical lead on trial projects
• Become an expert within the field, ensuring that the Optimisation team continue to push boundaries with brand new, innovative concepts that can be built, tested and delivered
• Have a performance based approach to your code, knowing when to utilise libraries and advanced CSS / animations to deliver a better user experience vs. the impact this could have on site speed. But always ensuring that you're bringing to life ideas and wireframes in the best way possible

About you
• Front-end development skills with a strength in visual design
• Exceptional skills across HTML, Javascript and CSS3
• Ability to solve problems through code and visual design skills
• Strong experience in responsive design and building user-friendly interfaces across devices
• Experience working with design tools e.g. Sketch/Figma
• Familiarity with AB tests, conversion rate optimisation and using insights to develop excellent customer experiences would be desirable
• Strong understanding of core UX principles
• Keen eye for detail
• Exceptional stakeholder management, collaboration and communications skills
• Eagerness to question the status quo, push boundaries and not be afraid to challenge
• Proactive, investigative mindset with an enthusiasm for experimentation and innovation

IMPORTANT NOTE: This role may require working outside normal offices hours, which could include occasional weekend working particularly at peak times and occasional overnight working e.g. for major launches. In general you will be expected to be flexible with your working hours to meet business and customer needs.
