Delivery Manager (Digital) - IT

It’s an exciting time to come and join the Boots IT team as a Delivery Manager to support our Project/Programme Managers in their delivery of a massive Digital Transformation roadmap for the website and the flagship Boots Mobile App.

You will be the face of Boots IT, representing our digital delivery capabilities across the rest of the organisation. You will act as a point of contact for both Product and Project Managers when issues arise with the delivery of projects and take accountability for the resolution of these, involving architects, third parties and technical SME’s as needed.

The role involves leading a multi-disciplinary delivery team and working largely on their own initiative within our Boots IT delivery frameworks.

About the opportunity

• Manage delivery for multiple large Digital Retail projects within a complex technology and internal/external supplier landscape, aligning the technology delivery with other 3rd party supplier and business change plans.
• Ability to manage project deliverables across multiple workstreams and supplier groups ensuring that plans, activities, dependent projects and other dependencies are sequenced and if necessary re-sequenced in line with agreed project governance to ensure successful outcomes.
• Ensure that complex fixed price, time and materials (or combination of both) projects using waterfall, SAFe agile and hybrid project methodologies are shaped, estimated and resourced for success, including a fit for purpose Delivery Approach that enables the team to deliver outcomes efficiently, with minimum disruption from external influences.
• Provide a mentoring and coaching role across the Digital Customer and Category portfolio, developing a framework that enables multiple teams to work towards the overall goal, including a proactive approach to problem solving and taking ownership of the outcomes.
• Financial governance, control and reporting of project budgets, ensuring compliance with the corporate governance model.

About you

• The ability to make decisions, lead/motivate teams and be recognised as a trusted partner whilst encouraging the adoption of a continuous improvement approach and the use of common collaborative delivery tools.
• Experienced managing multiple scrum teams, with a regular deployment cadence and with dependencies across multiple teams (both Waterfall and Agile)
• Experience of risk management - identify, qualify and quantify a risk, how to plan risk responses against a forecast proximity and how to manage risk throughout a project lifecycle.
• Proficiency with project management software for core project management activities and using Atlassian and Microsoft products for Agile Delivery Management.
• Can demonstrate the successful delivery of £multi-million IT projects and programmes.
