Senior Manager – Financial Control - Operations

An exciting role has become available in the Operational Finance department at Boots.
This role includes responsibility for overseeing the month end close and other operational and technical projects relating to stores, payroll, property and procurement activities.

This role would be considered as a job share or part time.

About the opportunity

The role reports into the Assistant Financial Controller and the main objective is to ensure the month end is delivered accurately and timely whilst adhering to monthly and quarterly Sox controls. There is also the opportunity to be involved in adhoc projects working with a number of stakeholders across the business.

The team is part of the wider controllership team and has one direct report who is further supported by an analyst and an offshore team. This role also includes managing and reporting on the performance of the offshore team.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

• Accurate and timely accounting for Lease Accounting, Payroll and Supply Chain costs
• Adherence to US GAAP for Group reporting purposes and IFRS for annual statutory accounts
• Adherence to Sox controls
• Liaising with the external auditors for Quarterly, Year End and Statutory Reporting
• Managing the offshore team to ensure they are performing efficiently and effectively and providing feedback where necessary
• Involvement in projects relating to area – this could include providing analysis, writing technical accounting papers or performing one off assessments

About you

• Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 6 years+ PQE
• Good knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP particularly in lease accounting
• Excellent communication skills - have the ability to work and communicate effectively with key individuals across the business and feels comfortable in challenging the status quo
• Have experience in dealing with auditors and writing accounting papers
• Be able to deliver to tight deadlines and manage a diverse workload
