Overview of Group Properties

The Engineering and Energy team need a new leader to lead, manage and develop the team, as they continue to be an integral part of the overall property process and property team.

The wider Property team of around 130 people is responsible for end to end property planning and delivery for the whole retail portfolio of stores, the Beeston site and the commercial portfolio of warehouses and offices.

• Building relationships with key internal customers and the external market to deliver business objectives – particularly as a collegiate member of the Property Leadership Team
• Having a mindset of continual improvement in both tactical strategy and processes, that is grounded in commercial savvy and business common sense.
• Leading and participating in diverse business wide projects, ensuring that specification and process are optimised to deliver engineering standards
• Leading the thinking and leading the delivery of the Engineering and Energy Teams
• Leading and developing the team to be the best they can be

You will have responsibility for:

• Specification of our instore infrastructure and equipment
• Evolution and redesign of our specifications to drive better value for money and increased effectiveness
• Engineering control and running of our CHP plant in Beeston and the maintenance, upkeep and development of all the Beeston site infrastructure.
• Purchase of our energy and utilities for Boots UK, and delivery of the energy saving programmes and energy education for all our asset users
• Playing a key role in the strategic development of our sustainability strategy and linking into the wider Corporate and Social Responsibility agenda
• Negotiating the best commercial terms and having the right contractual relationships with our Engineering and Energy contractors / suppliers and providers
• Preparation of all aspects of the annual Engineering and Energy budget and monitoring progress on delivery of it including manging the cost saving agenda through the Property Efficiency Programme.

About you:

You’ll be able to demonstrate a theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering, being able to engage with, and also challenge, the many qualified engineers in the team.

Your experience:

• Able to work collaboratively as part of a team of professionals to deliver business objectives.
• Commercially aware, being analytical and use financial knowledge to bring an innovative approach to property and engineerings solutions
• Good communicator, able to build effective relationships within the business and the external market
• Self motivated and results focussed to meet budget requirements with a high level of integrity and trust
