Contracts Assistant - Pharmacy Operations

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contracts Assistant within the Boots UK Pharmacy Services Team. You’ll use your sound verbal and written communication skills and your legal knowledge to help support all our pharmacies and pharmacy professionals meet their regulatory and our business requirements. Importantly, you’ll help ensure that any pharmacy contracts for the provision of pharmacy services that are entered, enable the safe operation of such services whilst protecting the interests of both parties. This is achieved by working collaboratively with Group Legal and other internal teams to ensure that pharmacy professional contracts are prepared, reviewed, and signed to agreed timescales.

About the opportunity

You’ll learn more about how Pharmacy works and have the chance to contribute to the business development workload for our locally commissioned services (across all devolved nations) and hospitals schemes. You’ll also get to work with several different functions across the business, so the ability to partner and work collaboratively is essential for this role.

The NHS faces increasing financial pressure and reform is required to move services away from secondary care settings, such as hospitals, into communities. This ensures that care can be delivered closer to patients’ homes whilst also affording savings to the NHS. Boots UK has over 2,000 Pharmacies and 600 Opticians and we believe that we are ideally placed to develop and deliver services to support this transformation of care. Pharmacy Services within Boots UK is an area with huge potential to develop an established business further and needs great people who want to shape and grow the future as well as their own.

• Supports with the provision of subject matter expertise to affect the day-to-day review and processing of ‘standard’ and bespoke pharmacy professional contracts
• Supports with the timely provision of advice, support, and guidance to Healthcare Partnership Managers and other relevant colleagues in relation to pharmacy professional contracts
• Actively contributes to the governance of process for managing pharmacy professional contracts, including to its continual improvement
• Provides guidance to colleagues on contractual matters relating to pharmacy services
• Pro-actively contributes to the wider Pharmacy Services Team agenda
• Work closely with colleagues in other parts of the business including Group Legal, Regional Pharmacy Managers, Finance Team, Bid and Business Development Managers, Hospitals Team, Pharmacy Operations Team, and the Chief Pharmacist’s Office.

About you

• A legal or paralegal qualification/experience (highly desirable)
• Relationship building experience and strong communication skills (verbal and written) across a wide range of stakeholders
• A keen eye for detail and ensure that your workstream is managed with pace and on time.
• Excellent administrative, data management, and organizational skills
• The ability to prioritize, organize and manage a demanding, highly variable workload with appropriate pace whilst maintaining a consistently high quality of output
• Excellent IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
