Head of IT - Boots Opticians

Head of IT for Optician is not traditional IT lead role. It is crafting and influencing the business strategy, plans, and enabling this through the thinking and execution of a technology strategy and roadmap. In this role you will support the development and acceleration of the technology transformation projects to our instore technology and digital platforms. In this role you will be is part of the Boots IT Healthcare leadership team and act as the day-to-day technology relationship management with the Opticians Leadership Team and works in support of the healthcare Platform Director.

About the opportunity

• Leads the IT relationship in Boots Opticians to drive and define technology strategy, working with the Enterprise Architecture team, and priorities and supports the business to identify business processes that can be improved/enhanced or simplified by use of technology to achieve improved value creation.
• Work closely with the Opticians Leadership Team on future initiatives that may require digital and technological input or output and ensures the Optics digital business priorities are advanced accordingly.
• Develops and implements the business IT strategy and roadmap in line with the divisional business needs and agenda within the context of the global IT strategy and IT Global Platform Strategy. Acts as key contributor in developing and evolving the Boots Opticians Long Range Plan in close partnership with the Opticians Leadership Team and the Healthcare IT Director and the key IT leaders in the technology capability areas.
• Through the Global service teams ensures the delivery of IT services and robust operating platforms to all functions within Boots Opticians, to meet the service level agreements and budgets put in place with business partners. Service delivery and project execution will be a mix of local and global teams.
• You will leverage the technical capabilities from other teams such as Enterprise Architecture, PMO & Technology Services, and will be able to work across the domain experts

About you

• Ability to effectively influence and engage across key stakeholders at all levels and within a larger matrix environment to drive IT and business alignment & change.
• Understands current and upcoming IT trends for Optics/retail sector and keeps up to date with developments in digital/Data that Boots Opticians and the wider business can benefit from the best of both external and internal advancements.
• Experience in change management, portfolio and project management, technology product ownership and agile methodologies
• Strong balance of business acumen and technology knowledge that supports the development of business case / benefits analysis and management – desirable
• Experience working in retail/healthcare/opticians would be ideal however not essential
