Healthcare Partnerships Manager

Delivering transformational healthcare outcomes in your community on behalf of the NHS

The Importance of Your Role

The NHS is undergoing a dramatic period of change: rising populations, living longer with higher expectations of their healthcare – and there’s less money to go round. And the structure of the NHS is changing too – local Clinical Commissioning Groups focussing on their immediate populations; Councils delivering more public health services that ever before; Hospitals seeking new ways to treat more people more efficiently. This is your chance to be a part of that change for the NHS on behalf of Boots – understanding the healthcare needs for your local community and working out how Boots can help deliver them. You’ll be focussed on ensuring that we’re delivering better care, closer to home for patients, at a lower cost for the NHS whilst ensuring that Boots makes a commercial return too. The role is all about building great relationships and translating those relationships into clear commercial opportunities for Boots.

What You’ll be Doing Day to Day

You’ll be using your own contacts and relationships with the CCGs and NHS Sub-Regional Teams and other payors (Local Authorities, Hospital Trusts, Prisons etc) to understand the healthcare needs in the local area and demonstrate how Boots can deliver solutions that answer those needs. You’ll also be drawing on your wider network of Boots colleagues to influence the NHS through participation in Health and Wellbeing Boards, Local Pharmaceutical Committees, local Healthwatch groups and other bodies. You will take potential sales leads from your immediate line manager and other influencers and take them through to the direct commissioning of a service or through to the start of a Tender process. You’ll then need to act as an ‘account manager’ joining up the process for the payor as we progress through the commissioning, tendering, mobilisation and delivery phase of the work.

How Will You Do It?

You’ll be working independently out in the field, ideally in a community that you can call home, with a specific geography (aligned to the NHS structure) that you will own. You’ll be assisted by the team in the Nottingham Support Office who will enable you to understand where the biggest opportunities might lie and also equip you with all the sales collateral and evidence you might need to make a successful sale. You’ll have the support of other Boots colleagues and will be given the training and development (including in negotiation and commercial awareness) as needed.

What You’ll Need to Have

We need really tenacious individuals who are resilient and able to withstand knockbacks. It’ll be really important that you have a great understanding of the NHS and how Pharmacy can play a role in that – but we don’t need you to have a clinical qualification. An ability to build great relationships over a sustained period of time will be critical and you’ll need to be able to translate that into tangible results. You’ll also be judged on the commerciality of the results you deliver for Boots.
