Lead Solution Architect – Marketing & Loyalty

We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead Solution Architect to lead the design of enterprise grade, innovative solutions across our marketing and loyalty programmes. This role is key to helping Boots succeed through personalising the customer experience. Combining digital marketing, personalisation and customer engagement through web, app and in-store, this is an exciting opportunity to design solutions that engage customers and increase loyalty.

The Lead Solution Architect will lead permanent and partner solution architects to devise solutions spanning the Boots marketing and loyalty platforms, Adobe marketing suite, data lakes and cloud platforms, partnering our Digital Teams to integrate impactful , personalised loyalty solutions into a rich micro-services based digital architecture and mobile app platform.

The Lead Solution Architect will have a unique opportunity to work alongside other senior architects focused on the implementation of the Adobe Marketing Suite, ensuring marketing and loyalty projects compliment and enable our mass personalisation strategy.

About the opportunity

Reporting into the Head of Technology, the successful candidate will:

• Lead a team of solution architects to define Architecture Runways and Target End State Visions by working with Product Managers and Enterprise Architects to understand business objectives and long-term strategies
• Develop core capabilities across strategic technologies, ensuring the Marketing and Loyalty delivery pipeline is well-resourced
• Mentor and coach solution architects
• Provide architecture representation and input within senior stakeholder forums
• Drive conversations with other Business Stakeholders, Solution Architects, Lead Engineers, Tech Leads and SMEs to determine the best solution for Boots
• Make Key Architectural Decisions with sound justification and apply Governance through presentation of solutions at Architecture Review Boards, Design Authorities and Design Forums
• Communicate effectively and provide Technical Leadership to implementing scrum and projects teams, with a working knowledge of both Agile and waterfall delivery.

About you

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into business-friendly outcomes.
• Experience managing senior stakeholders.
• Dynamic, enthusiastic approach to owning solution architecture across a domain and pro-actively leading improvement initiatives.
• A passion for technical and people leadership with strong experience developing technology capabilities and small teams of architects.
• Broad understanding of concepts and paradigms across domains of IT Architecture, Security and Integration; speicalising in Solution Architecture, designing / implementing enterprise solutions for customer-facing applications spanning Digital and physical channels and powered by large-scale data platforms, preferably in a Marketing and Loyalty environment
• Experience documenting designs and illustrating solutions with diagrams and presentation for technical peer review or approval
• A track record designing solutions within heterogeneous landscapes combining established monolithic and newer micro-services based architectures.

Desirable:
• Experience with Adobe marketing suite technologies
• Knowledge of Cloud Native and Micro-services Architecture paradigms and principles, preferably with experience of designing solutions on Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes (AKS).
• Experience with retail channel and loyalty technologies, i.e. EPOS, SAP CRM.
