Assistant Supply Manager Inbound and Outbound Operations

You will act on customer requirements to bring stock into the business, seeking to maximise outbound order availability and minimise stock holding cost and risk to the warehouse. You will be the main interface between suppliers and our customers, therefore it is essential for this role to have excellent communication and relationship building skills.

The Assistant Supply Manager must endeavour to provide excellent supply to the warehouse, challenging suppliers who do not meet performance expectations. The role holder must manage costs and work hand in hand with Assistant Customer Partnership Managers to communicate and manage supply risks.

While initially focussing on Inbound operations, the Assistant Supply Manager will also in time manage outbound orders to our markets, liaising with our warehouse to provide excellent outbound service to maximise the availability of our products.

The Assistant Supply Manager is responsible for developing the International Retail Supply plans and purchasing all planned requirements across the Retail Own Brand, Retail Exclusive Brand and Third Party Props brand assortment.

The role is responsible for planning and purchasing of products from our vendor base, including Boots UK, into Alloga, and is responsible for the service level of all vendors.

The role will also develop to include management of Outbound orders to our markets, liaising with customers and managing their priorities to achieve strong service levels, delivery of NPD programmes and all year-round assortment.
To plan stock requirements from external vendors and BUK into the Alloga warehouse, to service market demand
  • To raise and communicate orders to vendors, managing Purchase Orders through to delivery and resolving any operational inbound issues with the warehouse
  • To manage inbound supply of NPD projects, working alongside project teams and suppliers to monitor and manage inbound activities, updating the market facing supply teams of any risks and changes to NPD inbound dates
  • To actively seek resolution dates for out of stock products and keep customer facing teams updated to enable management of market expectations
  • To set inventory holding requirements on key lines, working with vendors to ensure vendor order cycles and lead time support the best possible market service level
  • To report on stock risks, provision requirements and take action to minimise stock risk
  • To support the supply planning relationship with Boots UK, as the key strategic supplier to International Retail.
  • To actively collaborate with vendors on mid to long term plans to drive availability
  • To manage multiple and competing priorities across IR and vendors, including trade-off recommendations where required in consultation with IR Commercial team and Assistant Customer Partnership Managers
  • To go on to manage orders to our markets, working alongside our warehousing operation to achieve 95% On Time Fill Rate
  • To communicate effectively with markets to update on supply service, NPD project status, stock issues and resolution dates, working alongside suppliers, warehouses, freight partners and customers to achieve end to end supply management

About you
  • Experience in Supply Chain management
  • SAP Knowledge preferred as well as an ability to learn and utilise customer systems and data
  • Ideally a degree or equivalent in a related discipline
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Strong problem solving & numeracy skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritise & manage varied workload and deadlines
  • Competent user of Excel
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of Supply Chain Planning principles

The organisation is focussed on growing the International Retail footprint, through a combination of owned business, franchise partners and relationships with third party retailers to sell our brands.
From November 2020, International Retail also took over responsibility for the Retail Own Brand, Retail Exclusive Brand and Third Party Props brands UK product selection and delivery to our markets, to provide a varied and credible retail offer for our international customers.

International Retail Supply sits within the Retail Partnerships structure. The remit of this team is to enable strong supply of Retail Own Brand, Retail Exclusive Brand and Third Party Props products into our international businesses.
International Retail Supply plays a key role in interfacing with International Retail Commercial team, Boots UK supply teams and external vendors as well as our warehouse networks to ensure a smooth delivery of the product assortment.
