About the opportunity

Working in the Optimisation team, you’ll lead our Insights function and be a key driver of the Boots.com Optimisation strategy, with a focus on experimentation, innovation and personalisation. You’ll deliver the insights programme to both inform and measure the AB testing strategy, leading analysis and research projects to understand customer behaviour, identify opportunities and measure the effectiveness of all activity.

Building and managing a small team of insights assistants, and working alongside the rest of the Optimisation function, you will be key to running a large-scale test and learn programme that will have insights at its core and will constantly challenge ways of thinking, pushing the boundaries of Boots.com.

You’ll have an ability to spot stories in the data, turn insights into action and, most importantly, be able to apply a data-driven approach to generate business growth.

• Use advanced methods of analysis or research to inform and guide the boots.com Optimisation strategy, linking in with commercial objectives to ensure all activity is tied to overall Boots.com ambitions
• Manage and grow a team of Assistant Insight Managers working within cross-disciplinary teams; coaching, empowering and supporting personal development
• Manage and co-ordinate the Optimisation Insight team workload, including any requests for insights from wider Boots.com teams
• Run statistical analysis of AB/MV test results, translating findings into stories, actionable insights and clear recommendations
• Manage the delivery of a high volume of research projects
• Use multiple sources of data to tell insight-driven stories and use these to gain buy-in from the wider business
• Work with related disciplines within Optimisation to support in the generation of ideas and hypotheses based on real insights
• Ownership of core digital data sources, including web analytics, session replay, heatmapping and voice of the customer, managing third parties where appropriate
• Set up processes and ways of working within the Optimisation Insights team to ensure that data is at the core of all Optimisation activity
• Responsible for bringing to life the value of the Optimisation team output, reporting to senior stakeholders and identifying how this can be used to further the department
• Responsible for ensuring quality of data and identifying configuration improvements within analytics and testing platforms
• Map tracking requirements and tag specifications for testing and development pieces
• Visualise data in ways that can be easily shared and understood (using, e.g. Google Data Studio) and drive engagement with it throughout Boots.com
• Work with product managers and UX to embed data-driven processes within the teams, enabling measurement of development work on Boots.com
• Support wider Boots.com teams and senior stakeholders with key initiatives, challenging ways of thinking, always focussing on why and proving value
• Present research findings and insights to all level of Boots, championing the test and learn culture and articulating the benefits of data and AB testing across the company

About you

• Strong (3+ years) experience of analysing, understanding and reporting online behaviours and pain points using either web analytics platforms (ideally Google and Adobe Analytics) or a range of customer research methods (such as user testing, surveys, session replay and heatmapping)
• Knowledge of AB/MV testing tools, processes and strategies
• Exceptional ability to use data in decision-making and forming strategic objectives to benefit business and customer
• Experience analysing A/B test results, translating findings into stories, actionable insights and recommendations
• A passion for using data to tell a strong, compelling and insight-driven story
• Excellent presentation skills, with the confidence to deliver up to Exec stakeholders
• Experience in managing a team, coaching, empowering and supporting personal development
• Experience in using data and visualization platforms (such as Google Data Studio, Tableau and PowerBI)
• Awareness and understanding of hard-coded and tag-implemented digital analytics platforms
• Good experience or understanding of data platform/testing platform integration and setup, and AB/MV testing methodologies. Exposure to testing tools would be beneficial
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communications skills
• Eagerness to question the status quo, push boundaries and not be afraid to challenge
• Proactive, investigative mindset with an enthusiasm for experimentation and innovation
• Passionate about identifying opportunities to drive growth and finding ways to make them happen
• You will need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be confident to lead and work with numerous teams across the business.
