Data Manager

The Data Manager role is in the International Data & Analytics (D&A) platform team, part of the Global Chief Technology Office of Walgreens Boots Alliance. The International D&A platform team support the International divisions including Boots UK & ROI, No7 Beauty Company & International Retail to digitise and transform their data to a cloud-based D&A platform.

The Data Manager role is responsible for all Data Management and Governance for all data on the International D+A platform. This includes Data Scoping, Metadata Management, Reference Data Management, Data Quality Management and Data Mapping Governance across the portfolio of projects migrating from on-premise platforms to the new D+A cloud platform.

About the opportunity

The Data Manager will:
• Combine both business and data analysis skills to capture data centric requirements and data definitions, and to lead this activity across all active projects
• Define, establish and continuously improve standards and processes for all Data Management activities
• Document data requirements that address data sources, data provenance, data scope and data quality
• Lead, perform and continuously improve DPIA completion, Data Profiling, Data Definitions, Data Mapping, Metadata Management (Data Tracker), Reference Data Management, Data Quality Management & Data Stewardship for RPI
• Establish, communicate and enforce data management best practices, standards and processes
• Profile large and complex data sets using SQL or other analytical tools to ensure they meet requirements
• Identify data quality issues, data scope gaps or data privacy issues within all data sets and ensure that these issues are all addressed
• Investigate the cause of data quality issues and initiate the most appropriate resolution
• Document data mappings to identify the attributes of value that will be used in reporting layers and capture any data joins, cleansing, transformations or calculations required.
• Work with the Data Architecture Lead to influence and realise the data management strategy
• Direct and review the detailed data analysis work undertaken by Data Analysts
• Work closely with the Data Designers to ensure that the data models incorporate all the data concepts
• Work collaboratively with data designers, solution architects, data engineers and BI engineers in an agile scrum delivery team
• Contribute to data management forums to help establish and improve data standards and efficient ways of working
• Triage new data analysis requirements, provide impact assessments and appropriate delivery estimates

About you

• Extensive experience working as a data analyst in an analytics environment
• Extensive experience analysing data from a quality and integrity perspective
• Experience leading data analysis activity
• Highly proficient using SQL
• Good understanding of metadata, master data and reference data management
• Able to work in fast-paced environment
• Data Quality & Integrity Analysis using SQL
• Familiar with ETL pipelines and data loading systems.
• Good understanding of metadata, master data and reference data management
• Able to work in fast-paced environment
• Conceptual, logical and physical data modelling, data lineage/data flow mapping and data quality
• Experienced in collaborative working across other multi-disciplinary teams e.g. Infrastructure, integration etc.
• Able to collaborate globally with a variety of technical and business stakeholders
• Data protection, security and governance awareness
• Desirable to have Retail, Pharmacy, Supply Chain and Product data domain experience
