The Head of Data & Analytics is a role within the IT leadership team responsible for owning and delivering the strategy to create the data assets and insights that will allow the  business to operate and grow as a modern CPG, building strategic business relationships with senior stakeholders, providing thought leadership to develop a data driven organizational strategy & culture, defining a data architecture, developing a roadmap that delivers the strategy in collaboration with the rest of the business & IT function, building & leading a high calibre cross-functional team, and enabling the delivery of key insights and capabilities using modern methodologies and approaches

About the opportunity
Business Engagement
  • Build trusted relationship with stakeholders by demonstrating deep understanding of business value chains, processes and capabilities in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, and how these are enabled by data & analytics.
  • Partner with the wider technology function to understand and influence the key capabilities being developed for WBA as a whole, how to get maximum value from them, and when No7 Beauty Company will require unique capability.
  • Establish relationships with other organisations to develop an industry perspective on how fast-moving and successful companies use data & analytics, and demonstrate how that can be applied within No7 Beauty Company.
  • Be personally engaged with senior stakeholders for whom GB IT provides Data & Analytics products and insights, and support team members to create their own stakeholder relationships
Data Strategy
  • Articulate and own the data strategy for No7 Beauty Company to ensure that it can generate deep consumer insights through unparalleled access to data
  • Working in collaboration with the functions in No7 Beauty Company define the data needs of the organisation to enable a data-driven approach to decision making and insights, to democratise access to data access, and that the use of data is ethical and transparent
  • Take an holistic approach to ensure that the needs of separate functions are not managed independently or result in data being locked into functional silos
  • Support the business case(s) for investment in data & analytics capabilities, and work with other sponsors to optimise the total investment
  • Define and execute a roadmap for delivery of the strategy with key success criteria and measurable progress
  • Foster a culture of set of behaviours where data is valued as an asset rather than seen as a chore or cost of doing business
Data Architecture
  • Provide thought leadership in the area of data & information architecture, architecture governance, data modelling & management and continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain the domain and entity models, the curated models in the datalake, and the definition of standard data & analytic objects
  • Understand the downstream and upstream of data flows through the organization
  • Ensure standards are defined for data quality, provenance and lineage
  • Working with the relevant technical and legal experts within WBA, ensure compliance with current and emerging legislation on data security, and residency.
  • Ensure 2nd and 3rd party data is incorporated into the architecture (and systems landscape) in a way that maximises value whilst respecting commercial restrictions and sensitivities - both for data within WBA and external to WBA
Deliver Analytics & Insights
  • Build and lead a team of experts that have proven skills in data science, data engineering, business analysis, dashboard development, end-user tooling, data visualisation, and emerging data & analytics technology.
  • Using agile methodologies and ways of working, produce data & analytics products that meet the needs of specific use-cases and user journeys, and the demand for ‘one-off’ insights
  • Provide guidance and thought leadership to users throughout on how to best use the tools, operational systems, and data & analytics capabilities that are available
  • Coordinate with other technology and data & analytics teams within WBA to ensure successful delivery of projects and solutions
  • Define a delivery model that consistently provides exceptional service to internal customers, and that meets or exceeds their expectations

  • Ability to lead the thinking behind and shaping of solutions which are new or cutting edge, being able to work with Proof of concepts, MVP thinking, and articulate the value that can be derived
  • Ability to challenge/influence the business strategy, business case & business requirements
  • Exceptional people skills with an ability to lead global teams; collaborate and manage direct reports in a matrix organisation with focus on getting the best out of people
