WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As the Senior Data Scientist for International, you will be responsible for influencing business decisions and increasing customer engagement through innovative customer analysis and data science.

Partnering with the in-country Loyalty teams, you will act as a centre of expertise on Data Science and Analytics. Developing analytical solutions to drive customer understanding, personalisation and customer engagement. You will be able to understand the objectives and drivers for the businesses, present your findings and interact effectively with senior stakeholders and be key in shaping strategies and objectives.

You can expect to be involved in the following:

• Leading the development of innovative scalable solutions for complex and diverse business problems through use of analytical techniques, machine learning or deep learning
• Collaborating on commercially focused projects with colleagues from data engineering, insights and business backgrounds
• Visualisation and communication of actionable insights and making commercial recommendations to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
•Owning technical domain knowledge for your specific area, acting as the leader in technical knowledge, developing understanding and best practice internal and external to the team
•Develop a strong understanding of the customer, market and business strategy for supported International partners
•Coaching more junior Data Scientists and providing inspiration, support and technical guidance for the wider team

We are looking for individuals who combine independent thinking with problem-solving skills, work well in a team and have a flexible and agile approach to work.

Skills and Experience

Basic Qualifications: You will require a majority mix of the following;

• Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Physics, Mathematics, Computational or Decision Sciences, or equivalent experience
• Experience structuring business questions as analytics problems and using available data, quantitative modelling or statistical analysis techniques to develop a scalable solution
• Proficient in at least one general purpose programming language like Python, R, C etc.
• Proficiency in using SQL
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI
• Strong communication and data presentation skills. Able to present complex ideas to less analytically minded stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience of targeting, optimisation or measurement of Marketing activity

Desirable Qualifications: Previously successful candidates have matched one or more of the below;

• Demonstrable record of delivering results in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Dealing well with ambiguity and an expertise in prioritisation of needs
• Expertise in working with large structured and unstructured data sets
• Expertise in both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, dimensionality reduction, neural networks & deep learning, natural language processing, ensembling
• Knowledge of working with cloud platforms and tools, particularly Microsoft Azure - Azure HDInsight, Azure Databricks, Azure Kubernetes Service, etc.
• Hands on experience building models with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe/Caffe2, Gluon, Keras, or similar
