We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join the Boots Opticians finance team leading on delivering our month end close and many other aspects of financial accounting. You will work with others in finance and the business ensuring we are compliant and well controlled in our day to day operations as well as providing advice and support for new business initiatives and strategy. The role reports into the Financial Controller and has one direct report.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month end and quarterly close process for the business including submission of results to WBA group functions
• Manage the Genpact (external business process outsourcer) operations for Opticians across the Order to Cash (OTC), Purchase to Pay (PTP) and Record to Report (RTR) towers, utilising and relying on support from Global Finance Services (internal stakeholders) where appropriate
• Ensure all balance sheets are reconciled and control matters are resolved by the team in a timely manner and a cycle of continuous process and control improvement is driven through the finance function
• Ownership of the RACM (Risk & Control Matrix), Risk Register and other similar documents e.g. contracts log, bcp plans, schedule of delegated authority etc
• Completion of annual statutory accounts, tax packs and other submissions for Optician legal entities
• Manage the external audit process acting as a facilitator between the auditors and other members of the Opticians finance team
• Provide technical advice on new business initiatives and draft accounting papers as appropriate

What are we looking for?

• A qualified finance professional (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with relevant experience
• Technically strong in terms of accounting standards and proficient at using IFRS and US GAAP
• Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with key stakeholders, both finance and non-finance, and feel comfortable in challenging the status quo.
• Project management skills – able to manage multiple work streams and stakeholders and their competing priorities
• People leadership – managing teams including coaching and developing others
