Overview of the role
The Governance Manager will be responsible for designing and delivering compliance management system and managing the delivery of compliance programmes & management system audits across the Boots businesses in the UK and ROI. The role will manage the delivery of the business continuity programme, enabling leaders to identify potential significant business disruptions and support them to design suitable mitigation and recovery activities. The role will also lead the organisation of the Boots UK & ROI governance structures & processes.

Your Responsibilities
• Designing and delivering effective and up to date “owned” management systems
• Managing the delivery of compliance & management system audits to programmes agreed with senior leadership teams
• Managing the delivery of the Business Continuity Programme across the organisation to plans agreed with stakeholders
• Managing the delivery of the Boots UK & ROI governance structures. This includes working with the Boots UK & ROI Governance Committee
• Managing the delivery of the Boots UK & ROI governance processes, ensuring they are efficient and effective in monitoring both known risks and identifying new legal & operational risks
• Identifying the need for, and then securing the support of subject matter experts for audit & business continuity, helping them to base their expectations on the requirements of documented management systems
• Developing and delivering enhanced audit & business disruption processes, ensuring that these activities remain relevant and support the needs of the business while complying with WBA policy
• Supporting the delivery of business disruption activities (e.g. crisis management meetings) including an active role as deputy for the Senior Governance Manager
• Supporting the delivery of IT Disaster Recovery activities
• Networking with WBA colleagues and external professional networks to stay up to date with changes in legislation, policy, guidance and developments of good practice for audit & business disruption

Our Ideal Candidate
• Understanding of relevant British Standards and good practice in the areas of audit & business disruption
• Knowledge of the principles of compliance & management system audits and business disruption e.g. business impact analyses & business continuity plans
• A thorough understanding of the principles of risk management, demonstrable through relevant experience
• A strong capability in writing and the maintenance of documented management systems
• Impact and influence on a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to create business cases, develop and deliver pilots and test-of-concepts
• Relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills - to work with peers and with senior/external stakeholders
• Resilience and emotional intelligence, with the ability to balance commercial and business objectives with audit & business disruption objectives
• Personal Effectiveness – using planning and organisation to yield best results
• Strong capability to articulate & coach others in the requirements of audit & business disruption processes in a practical, pragmatic and motivational manner
• Degree level or equivalent education (Desirable)
• Membership of the Business Continuity Institute & the Chartered Quality Institute or similar (Desirable)
• A good understanding of stores and operational activity
• Excellent relationship building skills, able to engage and influence colleagues across the business
• Ability to produce detailed and relevant feedback packs/summaries
• Ability to work collaboratively across all functions within the business
• Ability to work at pace and demonstrates good time management
• Makes connections across the organisation offering support, challenge and drives turning insights into action
