We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Property Division here at Boots, in a newly created Cost Manager role. As the Cost Manager you will be responsible for leading, developing and managing our National teams of Quantity Surveyors and Cost Managers. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a role with some autonomy and the ability to create something from scratch. Pivotal to lead the future of cost management within Boots, and driving change

Key Responsibilities

• As the Cost Manager you will oversee the annual property cost expenditure and all associated cost management, whilst taking a leading role in managing the Property function’s cost reduction strategy.
• You’ll be a key point of contact for our suppliers and will support with validating our market tendering activity. We’re looking for you to have experience of driving value, implementing cost saving initiatives and also reviewing the return on investment from our tender results
• You will support with all cost management services, service level agreements for third party cost management practices, cost tracking actuals & forecast expenditure against budgets and approvals
• In this role you’ll need to support with reporting when it comes to our Fixed Asset Register and also in collating FAR reports to support across certain projects
• We’ll need you to oversee cost governance for Property, including supporting internal capital approval processes on behalf of the team & collating cost information for Board papers and presentations
• Provide all Capital Allowances information as required by Group Taxation

A bit about you…
We’re looking for a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, or someone with significant experience in project management of retail property projects (this could be as a main contractor or within an internal retail function) to join the team with the following skills/areas of experience:• Experience of working in or on behalf of retail organisations, in a similar role, is needed as we’ll need you to balance the needs of the business whilst also bringing great commercial acumen to the role
• You’ll have experience of market tendering & retail construction/fit out
• Can demonstrate experience of cost reduction and ROI through driving SLAs with suppliers
• An experienced project manager who can demonstrate where they have led on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Advanced Excel skills, use of VBA Macros and fully IT literate incl full use of office suite
