Joining the Infrastructure Technical Architecture team, you will be providing direction, architecture building blocks and governance for design activity across Walgreens Boots Alliance. The ideal candidate will be someone with relevant experience in providing infrastructure architecture for mission-critical IT systems in a large enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and consultancy for cross-functional and cross-technology projects. This will include engaging internal IT teams and 3rd party vendors across Walgreens Boots Alliance. Providing outline architectures, building blocks and direction for end-to-end solutions to meet the requirements of the business and ensure these are successfully delivered
• Work with Enterprise Architects and Solution Designers to maintain appropriate architecture documentation to support IT solutions
• Work with Global Service Owners and architects to identify opportunities, and building solutions as per the defined strategies to offer new technology, service improvements and operating models
• Define technical architecture and technical roadmap design, along with the supporting architecture principles and patterns
• Participate in project governance bodies, for the approval of solution design, along with quality assurance in divisional and broader group IT governance where appropriate
• Work with the delivery and operations teams to support problem resolution as a point of escalation for root cause analysis and remediation planning.

• Ability to take a creative approach to problem solving, with a passion to be both deeply technical but also bring that back to an outline view for consumption
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to effectively work with various customers, from senior leadership to 3rd party vendors. The ability to rapidly understand the business, commercial and technical requirements to build solutions is vital
• Be able to reduce complex ideas to simple terms and express rationale for decision making to both a non-technical and technical audience
• Possesses a broad knowledge of technology areas such as infrastructure, transformation and migration, security, business analysis, applications, integration, service management and understands how these interact to arrive to a solution
• Deep understanding of IT operation, with a strong understanding of IT Infrastructure, technical architecture and its key accountabilities.
Technical Skills
Deep understanding and functional experience in at least four of the following areas:
• Network solutions – Cisco switching, routing, wireless, load balancers, VPN, MPLS WAN, SD-WAN, QoS, ACI, Azure ExpressRoute,
• Security solutions - Email, endpoint, web, firewalls, IPS, IDS, WAF, PKI, VPN, MFA and other identity management services
• Telephony and collaboration – Traditional PBX and VOIP platforms across an international setting. Microsoft Skype and Teams voice integration
• Server infrastructure – Virtualisation, storage, managed backup, hyper-converged platforms
• Client mobility – Mobile device and app management, security
• Private and public Cloud technologies – Particularly Azure Cloud migration and co-existence techniques. Full range of Azure IaaS, PaaS, SaaS products including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and Azure App services
• Office 365 – Full product stack and supporting technologies
• SAP – SAP Architecture and SAP Basis across multiple SAP components and versions (Netweaver & HANA), operating on UNIX and Windows platforms, both on-premise and Azure Cloud. Associated experience of high availability patterns, resilience, backup and recovery
• Databases platforms – Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, MySQL, operating in clustered environments
• Experience in Unix and Linux – AIX and Red Hat Enterprise
• Microsoft Enterprise product suite - Windows Server, AD, ADFS, NPS, DHCP, DNS, Cluster services
Experience in the following areas is desirable:
• Experience of middleware technologies –Software AG, WebSphere, JBoss
• Experience in Citrix technologies
• Experience in Infrastructure and application management and monitoring platforms
• Web application development understanding as well as the supporting infrastructure required to optimise and support
• Knowledge of formal methodologies and frameworks – TOGAF, ITIL, COBIT, AGILE
• Working knowledge of data protection and compliance standards of PCI-DSS and GDPR
• Containerisation, microservices and orchestration technologies – Kubernetes, Docker
