Project Assistant

Job reference: 135571BR Previous
Location: Boots Warehouse, Burton On Trent
Shift pattern: Full-time
Contract type: Secondment
Hours per week: Over 35 hours per week
This secondment is an opportunity to help to deliver a new Knapp warehouse management system (WMA) into the Burton operation. The existing system has been operational since 2010 and is now due to be replaced. Through 2021 there will be a phase of detailed system testing, to ensure that the new system will work effectively from day 1.
Reporting to the Test Lead within the project team, the role will focus firstly on developing test documentation, ensuring that expected results of each test are clarified and documented. The second phase of secondment will cover the actual testing period, and will involve script execution, using a test version of the new system to evaluate all operational processes across the warehouse.

At the end of the secondment period, you will return into the operation as a systems ‘expert’ and in a very strong position to use your knowledge to develop into further technical roles within the warehouse.

Key Responsibilities:
• Write test scripts, based on an agreed format, using system design documentation.
• Ensuring that script content covers all operational requirements and situations.
• Undertaking testing activity, following agreed procedures, and signing off successful tests
• Logging of defects, when encountered, and completion of other test documentation (progress sheets, etc)
• Liaison with operational colleagues, to gain advice and insight, where required.

A bit about you:
• You will have detailed and extensive experience, and understanding, of existing warehouse processes in place in Burton, ideally gained through experience of working in multiple areas of the warehouse
• Able to work methodologically, able to take a step-by-step approach to break down complex processes into simple steps.
• You will likely have an interest in, and an ability to understand, systematic processes.
• You will be able to work alone when needed, and able to manage your own workload.

A bit about the team:
You will be working as part of a small project team focussed on delivering a number of new strategic projects into the Burton operation. Working in a mix of Burton, Beeston Support Office and from home, this role will require a level of flexibility and self management.
