As a Strategy and Transformation Manager you are central to translating our purpose and business strategy into action.You will provide leadership to effectively challenge and coordinate the business to deliver against its strategic outcomes. In short, you will have a significant opportunity to shape and drive strategic direction and the change agenda for Boots Opticians, helping us to continually improve what we do today and setting the path for continued growth and success in the future.Key Responsibilities:While you will have the opportunity to shape the role over time, your key accountabilities are:• Driving the transformation agenda for a set of strategic outcomes from our balanced scorecard• Partnering the business to scope, shape, prioritise and develop the change activity and propositions that will deliver the desired outcomes• Ensuring the change activity ladders-up to the strategy and is translated into clear plans that everyone can understand• Injecting critical thinking and thought leadership to your strategic outcomes to raise the bar on innovation and end-to-end customer journey thinking• Leading cross-functional ‘discovery’, strategically important projects or programmes of work where required• Identifying priorities, trade-offs and dependencies and equipping leadership and the Change Steering Group with the information needed to make informed strategic and commercial decisions• Coaching and supporting project leads in setting-up and executing change brilliantly• Role modelling agile ways of working, customer-obsessed thinking and creative problem solving• Providing objective and constructive challenge to everything we do through a ‘continuous improvement’ lens• Contributing to the continued improvement of the business planning framework and processes and broader organisational change capability• Helping to upskill and develop a future pipeline of Strategy and Transformation Managers from within the businessA bit about you:Essential:• Deep strategic and critical thinking to shape strategy and translate it into action that will deliver customer and business outcomes• You can take concepts and ideas and develop them into real customer propositionsYou are experienced in leading large projects or programmes of change• The ability to prioritise and focus your effort on the things that drive the biggest customer benefit• The ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge effectively where required• Experience of empowering individuals and teams to drive and sustain business change• The ability to take complex ideas and communicate them simply, taking people with you• Highly collaborative workstyle with the ability to engage and mobilise teams around common goals• The ability to spot problems and solve them creatively, individually and with others• Curious mindset, never settling for the status quo and championing continuous improvement• You’re a self-starter, have a can-do attitude, are outcome focussed and attack change with energy and drive that inspires others• You seek and act upon feedback and proactively work on your personal and professional developmentDesirable:• Knowledge and experience of approaches that enable innovation and agile ways of working• Leading change in the retail sector• Knowledge of how a franchised business operatesA bit about us:You will be part of a newly established change function. This small but hugely important team shapes and drives the business plan and works endlessly to improve the organisations change capability. You will report to the Head of Strategy and Transformation, work with other Strategy and Transformation Managers, work alongside the Programme Management Office and business partner with business leaders and project leads day-to-day. Being a small team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues right across the business and with external stakeholders to amplify the impact you can have.
