An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Space and Layout Manager at Boots UK, the UK’s leading pharmacy-led Health and Beauty retailer. With around 2,500 stores ranging from local community pharmacies to large destination health and beauty stores, our purpose is to help our customers look and feel better than they ever thought possible.

About the role:

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Operations, you’ll lead the team who produce and maintain accurate commercial layouts (CAD) and floor plans (Intactix) that reflect the business strategy. Using recommended and varying macro space and planning principles across a complex store Estate, you will lead the delivery of strategic initiatives and seasonal changes to floor plans within agreed timescales. You will build and maintain excellent cross-functional relationships and in particular, partner with Retail to ensure engagement and local advocacy of each initiative.

You’ll also have accountability for leading the BUK Macro Space analysts who support the business objectives to optimise our retail space within the customer planning principles. In addition you will work with internal teams to identify opportunities which will maximise customer satisfaction and adjusted profit, ensuring that any projects delivered are done so in an efficient and timely manner whilst complying with our Health & Safety principles.

Your aim will be to significantly contribute to the ongoing improvement of the business’ commercial performance, driving Boots UK’s sales, profit and operating efficiency. This will be achieved by being customer and retail focused, process and data driven, developing new ways of working, creating disciplined operational consistencies, while working cross-functionally and delivering right first time at pace.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analysing space data to produce templates for floorplans which maximises profit and delivers operational ease in each store
• Maintain layouts and floor plans for stores for all changes to space (e.g. range changes, strategic changes, seasonal and promotional changes) to the agreed Critical Path
• Integration of the tactical plan into the strategic forecast of business space requirements
• Review store requests to change space and conduct analysis to support a recommendation on whether to enable the
• Proactively drive the macro space agenda and make recommendations as required by the business
• Drive implementation via regular communications and engagement of the Retail function including and Head of Stores
• Support the development and delivery of new Space Planning solutions in line with business strategies that meet the business needs for space and / or changes to space allocations
• Accountable for running appropriate system checks to ensure right first-time floorplans
• Own your part in the cross functional range management process
• Provide robust reporting using data current and future trends
• Review internal process and manage relevant checkpoints within critical path
• Drive cultural change and engage cross functionally
• Identify and unlock space initiatives that will add value and profit to our business

A bit about you:

• A strong understanding of Retail, and the challenges faced in driving sales, profit, compliance, and consistency in a multi-store organisation
• Strong leadership skills to lead and motivate a high performing, empowered, focused and fulfilled team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to establish personal credibility at senior levels
• Strong organisational and project management skills with an attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage critical paths on multiple projects
• Influencing skills, to work collaboratively across different functions to deliver the right outcomes for the customer and the business
• Clear communicator, who can describe their aims for the future, what help they need to succeed and the value this brings to the business
• Change management mind-set, driving an agile working environment focusing on delivering value and the ability to adapt to change with a focus on refining new ways of working
• Excellent data analysis and problem solving
• Detailed knowledge of the SRM processes and critical paths
• CAD and/or Intactix knowledge would be desirable
