We have an exciting opportunity in the Boots Transformation team to join the End-to-end Process Simplification programme, that will enable Boots to radically streamline & modernise the Support Office by driving out inefficiencies and delivering a more efficient & agile operating model underpinned by the right capabilities for a “digital first” retail business.

This role will be instrumental in helping the organisation to achieve its transformational goals and will be responsible for the functioning of the team, coaching them in agile ways of working - being a servant leader to a scrum/project/workstream team. They will assist the team by driving the resolution of impediments, risks and help ensure value delivery from the team. They will also support where needed in the Agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams, and Product Owners (in this programme, the product is the e2e process) in agile processes and mindsets and facilitate sessions outside of the core team for example. The programme will use an agile mindset and therefore the best bits of agile will need to be applied to different workstreams/projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Business & IT engagement – be the open communication link between business and delivery team, remove blockers for the team, drive visibility and transparency of dates/milestones/dependencies, keep team true to the vision and objectives
• Planning – co-ordinate planning and development activities for upcoming planning events and sprints, monitor and report performance and velocity of team and assess capacity for future sprints
• Leadership of scrum teams – sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint review, team retrospective, support improvements form reviews/retrospectives, ensure population of healthy backlog, share learnings with other scrum masters, coach team in agile best practice
• Quality & process – Use Boots Agile methodology and tools where appropriate and/or apply agile mindset taking the best bits of agile that will help the team to deliver at pace (i.e. sprint predictability, risk reduction/issue management, definition of done etc.)
• Expertise, guidance and innovation – Maintain a strong understanding of the Boots UK and Boots IT strategy, commercial frameworks within IT and apply this knowledge to make recommendations. Network externally to gain insights about evolvement of agile process, in particular, Scrum, Lean and Scaled Agile Framework, to drive both innovation and options

A bit about you:

• You will be able to demonstrate a deep level of knowledge and experience with Scrum. This should include at least 2 years + experience performing the role of a Scrum Master (preferably Scaled Agile Framework)
• You will have practical experience of working in a multi scrum team environment, continuous delivery/integration and working with a 3rd party development team
• You will be able to show evidence of understanding a business vison and applying the principles in daily activity
• You will be able to demonstrate translating complex issues into clear plans, ensuring options are understood and plans are agreed to and followed by all parties
• You will have experience in communicating and engaging with others effectively whilst motivating them to deliver business goals and facilitate the business change decision-making processes and the planning and implementation of change, being comfortable with pivoting in a different direction and bring others with you
