Overview of the role

Group Procurement at Walgreens Boots Alliance is led by our Chicago-based CPO. The UK based Category Procurement team for Goods Not for Resale (GNFR) reports to a UK-based Head of Category Procurement and is comprised of c. 30UK based professional Procurement Managers.

The Procurement Category Manager – Fleet will join our existing UK based Category Team reporting to the Group Procurement Category Lead. The role holder will be accountable for commercial and thought leadership to support the Business strategy delivery at an exciting time for supply chain development within WBA.

Your Responsibilities

• The overriding responsibility is to deliver the best possible value to Walgreens Boots Alliance from 3rd party relationships within the category by:
• Leading the development, implementation and ongoing management of procurement category strategies at a local, regional or group-wide level.
• Delivery of projects and programmes to translate these strategies into validated procurement delivery objectives (cost, cash, compliance, risk, CSR etc).
• Working with stakeholders (functional, procurement and supplier), to develop strategy and tactics for procurement category initiatives, that are fully aligned to and support delivery of business and functional objectives.
• Providing thought leadership; market expertise and supplier relationship management to identify, and implement initiatives to maximize value
• Ensure ongoing management of existing supplier contracts and relationships.
• Project managing work-streams and initiatives within the category to ensure timely delivery, ensuring all necessary processes, including formal stakeholder approvals and governance requirements are completed.

Our Ideal Candidate

• The role faces into a complex organisation with multiple brands and business divisions and our ideal candidate will be used to operating collaboratively within a similarly complex environment.
• You will have in-depth Procurement knowledge with demonstrable experience of delivering value at pace whilst working on a wide range of initiatives.
• You will be commercially astute with strong communication and negotiation skills and adept at applying a variety of commercial approaches to deliver real value to the business.
• You will have previous experience of managing large value contracts, strategic supplier relationships and of developing strategies to support business critical functions.
• Previous Fleet, Logistics or Supply Chain experience will be an advantage, but you will certainly have the internal and external engagement and relationship skills to provide category insights and knowledge-based challenge to senior stakeholders within the business.
