Senior Manager – Network Portfolio and Build

In this position you will be accountable for the Build & Portfolio function across the Network Services Domain across Boots UK & Ireland as well as Alliance Healthcare in Europe which delivers roadmaps, standards and project capability to meet IT and business project needs.

You will be working hand-in-hand with IT colleagues, and external partners across the function to ensure a coordinated approach to delivering roadmap, strategy, architecture capability, delivery and lifecycle management approaches across the function.

This will contribute strongly to the seamless provision of IT Network Services to drive maximum business benefit across multiple national and international geographies, sites and connectivity platforms. Delivering through a strong portfolio management approach, engaging team (internal & external), vendors and stakeholders to optimise outcomes and meet business expectations from the area.

You will be leading the portfolio and build governance of the relationship between ourselves and our managed service provider, ensuring that this is managed in a structured, rigorous manner with appropriate reporting mechanisms, which can be translated to people at all levels within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Planning and Portfolio Management;
• Lead the definition, communication and execution of a robust Network Services roadmap & strategy, in line with the Technology

Services & IT strategy, across multiple national and international geographies, sites and platforms whilst ensuring that the stability of current operations are maintained and that the operating model, service levels, resources and cost-base are fit for purpose to support the WBA business priorities
• Formulate and drive the Network Services Portfolio of work and through this, develop a strong customer focus that attracts business units buy-in to IT Network Services initiatives.

Business Engagement, Stakeholder Management & Effective Communications;
• Lead and develop strong stakeholder engagement with IT functions across WBA, ensuring the role of Network Services is held up as a bastion of best practice within the IT Technology Services organisation
• Work closely with stakeholders and managed services provider leadership to ensure effective portfolio management process, and best practice is in place to benefit the organization

Design & Build
• Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all Network platforms

A bit about you…

• Strong knowledge of Network Services technology and the effective application of those technologies to support a significant sized business including Protocols, Software, Hardware, Architecture, Cost Management, Performance Management &
Operational Tools
• Experience of the external market and how this can influence solutions and outcomes for WBA
• Strategic insight & deep content expertise in Connectivity & Network Services; experience of defining and executing a long-term systems strategy within a significant IT environment
