My Day-to-Day Role

I work in the Operations team and our role is to manage the end-to-end operations of gift assembly, enabling gifts to be produced for Christmas. Alongside this I am an apprentice on the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, this means as well as my day-to-day role, I also attend university monthly, working towards a BA in Business Management and Leadership, as well as a Management Chartership.

I’ve been lucky over the last few months to be part of a project team providing numerous stock donations to the NHS and Care Homes.

NHS Patient Recovery Packs

The first project I worked on was producing NHS Patient Recovery Packs. Using stock donations from across the business and suppliers, together with the help of one of our gift assembler partners – we were able to create a COVID-19 safe production line to produce packs of personal care items to aid patients as they return home after a hospital stay. With help from Lemonpath, and our friends at Alliance, we have been able to distribute these across the NHS hospital base. My role entailed coordinating the initial stock receipt into Lemonpath, production, and then onwards to delivery to the NHS.

Care Home Stock Donations

The second project I have been working on is the Care Home stock donation. My part within this has been to provide stock of personal care items from across our wide assembler base – which has in turn been distributed by the CSR team and our Stores Support Centre to care homes across the UK. We’ve currently donated over 100,000 units to help us say thank you to all care homes workers during this time!

It’s been a fantastic opportunity to work across the business as part of a diverse project team to establish how we could meet the needs of the NHS and Care Homes, alongside working with our fantastic gift assemblers to coordinate this.

I’ve really enjoyed working cross-functionally towards this fantastic common goal, as well as being able to help those who need it during this time.

My role is a small part to play towards fighting the pandemic, but I’m proud of all of Walgreens Boots Alliance who are contributing far and wide to protect public health.
